“Don’t lose hope yet. It’s not over until it’s over!” Vicky gripped Miya’s hand, her voice unwavering.
“Back then, Liam Mcgee was already married, but I still made him obsessed with me. After Mason Mcgee passed away, he even came to me, saying he wanted to take care of me for the rest of my life. If it weren’t for that sudden car accident, I wouldn’t be in this mess now.”
As Vicky recalled those days, a smug glint appeared in her eyes. ‘So what if Diana Brooks was a proper lady from a prestigious family?
‘Her husband still didn’t love her.
‘I stole him away from her without even trying.
‘So, until the very end, I’m not giving up, no matter what.’
Miya looked at Vicky, her eyes flickering with uncertainty. “Vicky, is there any way I can still win?”
“Your greatest leverage is your son. He’s the only heir to the Blackburn family. If you keep your head down. and make yourself seem vulnerable, sooner or later he’ll come back to you.
“Kids always stand by their mothers. When your son finally takes control, getting your revenge will be much easier,” Vicky advised.
Miya’s confused look gradually grew resolute.
‘Vicky’s right,’ Miya thought.
She had lost her adoptive parents. Now, the only thing she could cling to was her son.
Keith was her flesh and blood. No matter what, she could never give him up.
She had to figure out a way to see Keith, and make him throw a tantrum so they’d have no choice but to let her stay.
Suddenly, she remembered the whole poisoning incident and asked, “Vicky, what kind of poison did you guys use on Diana Brooks?”
Vicky caught on right away and smiled. “Miya, looks like you’ve really grown up. Finally thinking about your own future. That poison was something a friend of mine cooked up. I’ll introduce you to her.”
“Okay,” Miya said.
Thalia and Darion returned to the hospital where Diana was staying.
They handed the doctors a small sample of the antidote to run tests on it. Once it was cleared, they administered it to Diana.
An hour later, Diana woke up.

“Diana!” Thalia gripped her hand tightly, unable to hide her excitement.
“How are you feeling now?” Thalia said softly, relief flooding her face.

Diana was still a bit out of it, her wrinkled face looking dazed. It took her a moment to respond. “Thalia…”
“It’s me. I’m right here,” Thalia said, fighting back her emotions as she held Diana’s hand even tighter. “Diana, you’re safe now.”
Diana closed her eyes, as if recalling everything that had happened before she lost consciousness. She let out a heavy sigh, and it seemed like a few more wrinkles appeared on her face.
“I’m sorry I made you worry,” Diana said, her voice dry and hoarse.
“Diana, don’t say that. It’s what I should do. Just focus on getting better, and once you’re healthy again, you can go anywhere you want,” Thalia replied, her voice muffled with emotion, tears glimmering in her eyes.
Thalia was overjoyed that Diana had woken up safe and sound. A huge weight had finally lifted off her chest.
