Chapter 489
Thalia put herself in Wendy’s shoes and could totally understand how frustrated she was right now. She stroked Doggy and said, “Why don’t you talk to Jason? Ask him what he really means.
Wendy looked at her. “Is that okay?”
“He started this mess, so he should be the one to clean it up. You can’t carry all the pressure by yourself, Thalia said. She really thought Jason was out of line on this one.
If he doesn’t even like you, why say things that would lead you on?
If he does like her, then he should pursue Wendy openly and sincerely, instead of being ambiguous.
Now, all the pressure is on Wendy.
Wendy bit her lip and said, “Okay, I’ll call him right now.”
Thalia checked the time. “It’s getting late. I should head back.”
Wendy nodded. “Okay, be careful on your way home.”
“Mm.”

After Thalia left, Wendy dialed Jason’s number.
After three rings, he finally picked up, but his voice was groggy and half-asleep.
“Hello? What’s up?” he mumbled.
Wendy asked, “Jason, where are you? I need to see you.”
“Huh? Why do you want to see me?” Jason rolled over, sounding a bit more awake.
Wendy gritted her teeth. “Do I really need to remind you what you did? You jerk!”
“No, hold on…” Jason suddenly got agitated. “What did I do? Why are you calling me names? You’re making
no sense!”
“You should be the one feeling confused, not me!” Wendy snapped. “Are you out of your mind? Why on earth did you tell my mom we’re a couple? When did we ever start dating? Did you even ask me first? Did I ever say yes?”
Jason was stunned by her yelling. After a moment, he managed, “I was just trying to help.”
“Help? Who asked for your help?” Wendy paced around the room, hands on her hips. “We need to meet up ASAP and fix this! If we don’t, my parents will think we’re getting married!”
Jason almost let out a laugh, but quickly stifled it. “Come on, it’s just a misunderstanding. I’ll explain everything.”

“Then go ahead and explain!” Wendy snapped. “I’ve been calling you nonstop, but you never picked up. Were you ghosting me or something?”
“No way, why would I do that? I’ve just been crazy busy lately. I was literally asleep when you called,” Jason blurted out, then cleared his throat. “Alright, let’s meet. Where do you want to talk?”
Wendy gritted her teeth. “I’m sending you my location, so get here ASAP!”
She hung up on him before he could say a word.
But just as she finished getting ready to head out, her phone buzzed with a message from Jason.
Jason: [Sorry, something came up tonight. Can’t make it. Let’s meet another day.]
“Damn bastard!”
Wendy gripped her phone and cursed out loud, absolutely furious.
