Chapter 50 Keith Gets Injured
Thalia laughed bitterly, a cold, sarcastic sound. “Everyone’s already talking. I’ve been the joke for far too long. Do you honestly think I care anymore?”
Darion’s brows furrowed tightly. “What exactly are they saying?”
Thalia’s smile faded. She tried to push him away, but he only held her firmer. “Everyone knows about your affair with Miya. Do you really think it’s still a secret?
“Darion, you dragged my name through the dirt and let everyone trample on it. And now you’re acting like you know nothing about it?”
Darion’s sharp frown deepened, his face turning grave. “I truly didn’t know. I’ll have someone deal with it. They’ re simply spreading rumors. You won’t hear that bullshit again.”
A hollow feeling washed over Thalia. He could silence the gossip, but everyone could see right through it. They all knew what was really going on.
Everyone could see how well he treated Miya.
As his wife, she was just a prop now.
Thalia said, “Transfer the money. If you don’t, I’ll expose you and Miya to everyone. You can silence the others, but you can’t silence me.”
Darion had nothing to say, a heavy, stifling feeling weighing on his chest. Seeing her cold, unforgiving look, he had no choice but to give in. “Fine.”
Thalia relaxed a little, then snapped, “Let go. I’m going to get food.”
“I’ll come with you,” Darion replied, refusing to release her. He kept his arm draped over her shoulders, trailing after her everywhere she went.
Everyone passing by couldn’t help but notice their “affectionate” state.
Thalia quickly saw through his ploy.
She wondered, ‘So this is his little show, pretending we’re still madly in love, like the rumors about him and Miya are just made up?
‘He’s really got it all planned out, Thalia scoffed under her breath.
Her heart went even colder, and she said bluntly, “If you want me to keep up this act, you need to pay extra.”
Darion’s frown deepened. “What act?”
‘We’re husband and wife. Isn’t this just what couples do? Why would she call it an act?’ he wondered.
But Thalia’s mind was only on money now. She stared straight at him with her bright, clear eyes, looking as if she would cause a scene if he didn’t transfer the cash.
Darion had no words at all.
Suddenly, he realized that freezing her bank cards had been a terrible mistake.
Just as she’d wished, Thalia saw the three-million-dollar payment hit her account, and she felt a little better.
Night fell, and the mansion was lit up inside and out.
Keith, dressed in a festive suit, walked beside Miya, watching the fireworks bloom in the sky.
Thalia stayed off to one side, lounging on a corner sofa and playing games on her phone.
Darion had gone to socialize with the guests.
Thalia thought it was about time she left, so she got up to head out.
But just then, a small child ran over and hugged her, leaving greasy stains all over her dress.
Thalia couldn’t stand the stain, so she headed upstairs to get changed.

She came down wearing a fresh dress and saw a crowd of kids running around, Keith among them. She ignored them and walked toward the stairs.
But one boy charged toward the steps. Thalia frowned and snapped, “Don’t play here.”
