Thalia’s fingers curled slightly. She got up, walked over to Darion, and sat down next to him. She picked up the soup bowl and started drinking.

The soup tasted amazing, exactly the kind of flavor she loved.

But Thalia really couldn’t stand the way Darion dealt with things.

He just blurted it out, not caring at all who was around, all to pressure her into agreeing!

‘How could he just say something like that in front of everyone?’ Thalia thought, irritated.

‘If Viola ever found out about what happened between Wendy and Quinn, would Jason and Wendy’s wedding still be possible?’ Thalia thought, feeling uneasy.

Darion watched her drink the soup, a faint smile tugging at his lips. He turned to Viola and said, “It’s nothing. We’ve been reading a novel lately. The story’s actually pretty interesting.”

Viola immediately lost interest and teased, “You actually read novels? I never would’ve guessed.”

Darion replied, “Most novels these days are all about guys trying to win their wives back. Thought I’d learn a thing or two.”

Thalia let out a soft snort.

Thalia finished her soup and said, “It’s really delicious.”

Darion didn’t press her anymore and quietly turned his attention to his own meal.

Fortunately, Darion didn’t make them wait long. Once dinner was over, he drove them straight to the villa on the edge of town.

The basement was brightly lit, cutting through the darkness outside.

Matthew was barely hanging on, covered in blood and looking absolutely wrecked.

One of the bodyguards grabbed a bucket of cold water and dumped it all over him.

The shock jolted Matthew awake. He forced his eyes open and saw Darion and Thalia standing there, along with a woman he didn’t recognize.

Viola walked over, circled him twice, then sneered, “Pathetic.”

Matthew stiffened, feeling the threat in the air.

He glanced at Thalia, his voice rough and barely audible. “Why… why haven’t you finished me off yet?”

Thalia stared at him coldly. “Why should I bother killing you?”

Matthew shut his eyes, pretending to be dead again.

“Did you used to work at Norton Biotech?”

Just then, the woman next to him spoke up. Her voice was so calm, it made it hard to be wary of her

Matthew tensed, shooting her a look. “Do you know me?”

“No,” Viola shook her head. “But by rights, we should know each other.”

Matthew frowned, trying to figure out who she was, but no matter how long he thought, he just couldn’t remember where he’d seen her before.

Just as he let his guard down, a sharp snap echoed nearby, and suddenly, his mind started to blur.

Everything felt hazy, his reactions sluggish and slow.

Only that gentle, soothing voice drifted into his mind. “What’s your name? Mind if we get acquainted?”

Thalia’s hands were sweating, and she was holding her breath. It was her first time ever watching hypnosis happen right in front of her.
