‘Diana, you can’t say stuff like that. If your real granddaughter hears it, she’ll probably think I’ve brainwashed you or something. Thalia said, pretending to be all serious.
Then she flashed a smile. “Diana, when she comes back, we can totally be sisters. You gotta play it fair, okay? If you spoil her too much. I’m warning you. I get jealous.”
She pretended to joke, but deep down, Thalia just wanted Diana not to get any weird ideas.
Right now, it was still up in the air whether Vera was Diana’s real granddaughter, so Thalia wasn’t about to touch any of that stuff.
If Vera really was Diana’s granddaughter, Thalia would have to see how she treated Diana first.
If Vera was good to Diana, Thalia might actually consider letting her live.
But if Vera was mean to Diana, Thalia wouldn’t hold back.
Right now, Thalia just hoped Vera wasn’t Diana’s real granddaughter, so she wouldn’t end up stuck in a dilemma someday.
Thalia rested her head on Diana’s lap, and Diana’s warm, dry hand gently ran through her long hair.
Diana sighed. “You silly girl.”
Even if she took it all, what difference would it make?
Diana was happy to give her everything; whatever Thalia did with it was fine by her.
But this silly girl insisted on doing things her own way.
How could Diana not feel heartache for her?
Her parents always favored the other child, and then she found out they weren’t even her real parents. Her husband did all tinds of things to hurt her.
Now, she was completely alone.
She once had a happy life.
But now, she’s got nothing.
Diana’s heart twisted with sadness and regret; all she wanted was to give this silly girl the best of everything.
But Thalia had no clue what Diana was feeling right now. She just felt so happy and content.
She closed her eyes, resting her head on Diana’s lap as sunlight poured over them, wrapping them in warmth.
This moment felt especially warm and reassuring.
Ever since Quinn disappeared, Wendy and Jason had been worried sick. Half a month flew by, and with the wedding tomorrow. Quinn still hadn’t shown up.

They just assumed Quinn had already left Oakwood, and with the big day coming up, they stopped worrying about it
The day before the wedding. Thaha showed up at the Adkins family home. There were relatives everywhere, and as soon as Wendy spotted her, she couldn’t help but pull her aside to vent.
I already told my mom not to invite so many people, but there are still so many here. I just feel really uneasy about it Thalia sat down beside her and said, “The wedding’s tomorrow, so try not to get too nervous. Once it’s all over, you’ll finally be able to relax.”
Wendy sighed, grabbed a handful of sunflower seeds, and put them in Thalia’s hand. “Hey, you’re bunking with me tonight” Thalia raised an eyebrow. “That might not work.”
Wendy pouted. “Honestly, I really don’t want to sleep with my mom. She’ll probably spend the whole night nagging me or giving me advice.”
Thalia laughed. “Come on, in your mom’s eyes, you’re officially getting married now. She won’t lecture you anymore. She’ll probably just have a heart-to-heart with you, saying all those things only a mom would say to her daughter.”
Thalia couldn’t help but feel a little envious of Wendy. Her parents doted on her. She was the center of their world.
But what about her?
