Wendy lowered her gaze, grumbling inwardly, ‘Ugh, this is so annoying. But on the outside, she kept up a cooperative front. playing along as expected.
Down in the audience, Wendy’s parents were getting teary-eyed. They really liked Jason as their son-in-law
‘Wendy’s got great taste. She found someone who truly loves her right from the start!’ her parents thought.
Thalia sat down next to Darion, watching everything unfold. Her lashes fluttered as she asked. “Do you think Jason actually likes Wendy?”
She shot Darion a look. If anyone knew the truth, it’d be his best bro.
Thalia kept comforting Wendy, but deep down, she couldn’t shake her doubts.
Jason wasn’t acting at all; the way he behaved, it was obvious he was genuinely serious about her.
Darion handed her a glass of juice and asked, “Thirsty?”
Thalia looked at him. “So, is he or not?”
‘Guess, Darion replied with a smirk.
She rolled her eyes at him, not in the mood for his silly games.
In her heart. Thalia was pretty sure her guess was spot on. Jason was totally into Wendy.
Her eyes showed a mix of emotions.
Jason was helping Wendy, keeping her safe.
His intentions were good.
But things had a way of spiraling out of control.
If Quinn never showed up and just faded from Wendy’s life, what would Jason do if, after two years, Wendy still asked for a
divorce?
Was he really that sure of himself. Thinking he could win Wendy over in two years and she’d just forget about leaving him?
Thalia watched as Wendy and Jason walked onto the stage, standing under the spotlight with everyone watching them.
Suddenly, Darion grabbed her hand. She turned to see him gazing at her, and he said, “He’s brave, isn’t he?”
Thalia looked down slightly and nodded. “Yeah, he is.”
“Let’s not say anything more. Time will prove everything.” Darion said.
Thalia stayed silent and gently pulled her hand back.
The emcee began saying sweet, romantic words as Wendy and Jason stood facing each other.

Once the words ‘I do’ were spoken, it was time for Jason to kiss the bride. Cheers and applause filled the room. Everyone was excited to witness the big moment.
Jason leaned in, speaking in a low, teasing voice, “Don’t hit me, alright? Everyone’s watching.”
Wendy’s breathing went a little haywire. Having to kiss him with all these people staring was just so awkward.
If only I’d gone with a veil, Wendy thought. ‘I could’ve just pretended and skipped all this embarrassment
She decided to just shut her eyes. If she couldn’t see anything, maybe she wouldn’t freak out so much.
‘It’s just a quick touch, it’ll be over before I know it, Wendy kept telling herself.
Wendy kept psyching herself up, and soon, she felt his breath softly land on her cheek.
It was feather-light, almost imperceptible, so close yet barely there.
Wendy’s lashes fluttered, her grip on the bouquet tightening as sweat formed on her palms.
His breath was getting closer, inching toward her lips, just as he was about to touch them, a loud bang suddenly shattered the quiet.
Bang!
Wendy snapped her eyes open and looked toward the source of the noise.
The doors, which had been shut tight, were suddenly kicked open, and a group of menacing figures strode in, their presence radiating danger.
In the center, a man raised a gun and aimed it right at Jason’s face on the display board, then pulled the trigger without warning.
Bang!
The gunshot snapped everyone out of their daze. Screams broke out, and the whole place exploded into chaos.
Quinn radiated pure hostility, his icy blue eyes fixed on Wendy in her wedding dress. A maniacal grin twisted across his face as he leveled his gun right at them.
“Who said you could get married?” Quinn snarled.
