He sobbed, watching Darion’s expression closely, but when he saw Darion’s cold, unmoved look, his sobs gradually faded away.

The hospital room was filled with the sharp scent of disinfectant. Keith, almost four years old, was already starting to play his little tricks. He thought that if he looked pitiful enough, Darry would feel sorry for him and give him whatever he wanted.

Darion watched those tears Keith shed for Miya’s sake, his gaze growing colder. He reached out and gently wiped away Keith’s tears, his voice soft and gentle. “Keith, be a good boy. You’ll get better, and Darry and Tally will always be here with you.”

He would never allow someone as vicious as Miya to stay by Keith’s side. This time, she went as far as poisoning Keith just to stay by his side. Who knows what she’ll do next if she doesn’t get her way?

Darion held a tissue and gently wiped away Keith’s tears. He knew that once Keith let out all his feelings, he’d settle down. Keith was still so little; there were things he just couldn’t understand yet, but someday, when he’s older, he’ll understand everything.

“Tally really likes you, you know. You’re always so well-behaved and clever. When you come live with us, Tally will take you to the amusement park, and she’ll spoil you with snacks and new clothes.”

Darion said. He hadn’t managed to convince Thalia yet, but seeing Keith cry so heartbreakingly, he could only paint a rosy picture for now.

Keith blinked, clearly unsure. “Really? Tally will actually like me? Did she see my drawings?”

He was afraid Darion was just lying to him. He really wanted to be close to Thalia, but whenever Tally looked at him, her eyes were always so cold, and she barely spoke to him. Eventually, he just gave up trying to get close to her.

Darion smiled gently, wiping away Keith’s tears again, his voice even softer. “She saw them, and she said you draw really well When you come live with us, you can draw for her whenever you want. She thinks you’re really talented.”

Keith gradually calmed down, and after crying himself out, he closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.

His eyes were swollen and red from all the tears, looking just like walnuts. Seeing such a tiny kid lying in a hospital bed. suffering from poison, was truly heartbreaking.
