The next evening. Darion came home early for once, bringing a doctor with him to check on Keith.

Thalia sat quietly by Keith’s side, keeping him company as she watched.

A servant walked over and said, “Mrs. Blackburn, there’s a Mr. Flynn outside who says he wants to see you.”

Thalia turned her head at the news. ‘He’s here already?

‘Did he really get the results that fast?’ Thalia wondered.

Darion turned to her, his gaze growing darker. “What does Sebastian want with you?” he asked.

Thalia glanced at him and said, “I don’t know. I’ll find out when I see him.”

She walked toward the door as she spoke.

Darion was about to follow her, but Keith grabbed his arm. ‘Darry, I’m kinda scared, Keith thought, his voice trembling.

Keith’s face was pale, his eyes full of fear as he stared at the doctor.

All kids are afraid of doctors.

Seeing Keith like this, Darion’s heart softened, but he kept glancing toward the door every now and then.

He hadn’t heard from Sebastian in a while and thought he was finally out of their lives for good. But now, just when he let his guard down, Sebastian showed up again.

“She’s always had a problem with you, and when she found out you came to see me that day, she cooked up a scheme right then to try and drive us apart, Sebastian said, his voice full of regret.

‘Figures, she’s nuts. Thalia thought, rolling her eyes.
