Thalia picked up her phone and called Dax.

After three rings, the call connected.

Hey Ms Coleman, Dax answered.

Thalia’s voice was tense. “Darion is missing. Have you noticed?”

Dax hesitated for a moment before replying, “No, I’ve only been watching out for you. You’re safe right now. Maybe Mr Blackburn just went to the restroom?”

Thalia’s brows knitted together. “That’s unlikely. He didn’t answer my call.”

Dax said, “Maybe there’s no signal in the restroom, so he couldn’t pick up. Ms. Coleman, don’t worry too much. Mr Blackburn will be fine.”

But Thalia said, “Can you come over to me? I feel uneasy when he’s not around.”

Dax replied, “Okay.”

Not long after the call ended, Dax showed up. His big, solid frame took his place next to Thalia, and she felt a bit more secure with him there.

A few minutes went by, but Darion still hadn’t shown up.

Thalia felt her heart clench, unease spreading inside her.

Dax glanced around and said, “I’ve already let Darion’s bodyguards know. They’re out looking for him. Darion’s not someone who gets into trouble easily. He’ll be fine.”

Thalia nodded, not saying anything more.

She stayed right where she was, waiting.

Dax was doing his job, keeping close to her, and that chilling sense of being watched didn’t come back.

If Darion hadn’t gone missing, maybe it was all in her head after all.

Half an hour had passed.

Thalia was getting more and more restless. The market was alive with vendors shouting and crowds weaving through, but Darion was still nowhere in sight.

Her eyes were clouded with confusion.

How could someone just disappear in a place this packed? Thaha thought to herself

Where could he have gone?

“Thalia, Dax called.

Just then, Dax spoke up.

Dax scratched the back of his head, looking conflicted hesitating as if he wasn’t sure how to start

Thalia stared at him, bewildered. “Betrayal is betrayal. Is there really such a thing as a little one?”

She paused, her expression turning more serious, her eyes growing cold as she looked at him. ‘So, did you really betray me!”
