Chapter 601
But the worst thing happened after all
Darton started burning up with a fever at three in the morning, totally out of it and barely able to function. He was a mess
The bodyguard noticed something was off and immediately called to check on him. Mr Blackburn, you need to go to the hospital I can take you right now
Danion’s brows furrowed, his voice rough and low “No. I’m fine
The bodyguard was still worried “But if you keep pushing yourself like this, you’re definitely going to get worse
Darion’s tone turned cold I said I don’t need it just drop it
The bodyguard hesitated for a moment before answering. “Yes, sir”
The next day, Thalia stepped out of her room, feeling much better after a good night’s rest
She was planning to mail the little gifts she’d bought back to Oakwood but as soon as she opened the door, she bumped into Darion coming out of the room next door
Darion coughed softly
His handsome face looked pale as he covered his mouth and coughed twice, then glanced at her “Did you sleep well last night?”
Thalia’s delicate brows furrowed as she stared at his pale face. “What’s wrong with you?”
Darion’s dark eyes lit up, and he quirked a smile. “Are you worried about me I’m really not feeling well. I think I have a fever. Want to check?”
As he spoke, he leaned in closer, trying to take her hand.
Thalia dodged him, her tone cold. “If you want to mess yourself up, that’s none of my business”
With that, she turned and walked away.
Darion’s face turned even paler, a hint of sarcasm curling at his lips. “But… I’m really feeling terrible, Thalia. I’m not faking
it.”
Thalia didn’t even bother to look back. “Stop playing games. I don’t care about you anymore.”
Darion was at a loss for words.
He started coughing again, this time so hard it sounded like he was about to cough his lungs out.
Hearing his coughs one after another. Thalia felt her chest tighten painfully, and her expression grew even colder.
Thalia walked up to the front desk. handed over her package for mailing, scribbled down the address, and left the inn without looking back
She decided to explore the desert. headed straight for the entrance, bought a set of tickets, and followed the signs into the
scenic area
Standing at the edge of the desert. Thalia looked out at a vast world of golden sand, endless dunes rolling into the horizon 1/2

Standing there, she suddenly felt her chest open up, as if all the heaviness inside her had been blown away by the desert wind
She walked along with the other tourists, her headscarf flapping in the breeze.
“Hey there, are you traveling alone?” asked a girl wearing sunglasses, striking up a conversation.
Thalia shook her head. “No, I’m here with my family.”
The girl nodded and looked around. “So your family isn’t with you right now?”
