Chapter 614
In the pitch-black jungle. Dax Stone managed to land a shot from such a long distance. It was almost unbelievable
Thalia Coleman’s eyes went wide, stunned by what she’d just witnessed.
She held her breath, struggling to contain her excitement.
Dax fired two more shots, but this time, the enemy was prepared. No sound of pain came from the darkness.
‘Let’s go.” Dax whispered, his voice low and urgent.
He moved fast, leading the way through the darkness.
Thalia didn’t dare hesitate. She rushed after him, her heart racing.
The jungle was so dark, and with the hunters closing in behind, Thalia couldn’t even hear the bugs anymore. She didn’t care
f the branches tore at her skin. She just kept moving, head down, focused on getting away.
The jungle was huge, branches crisscrossing everywhere, making it hard to figure out which way to go.
Jax led her deeper and deeper, his heavy breathing close beside her.
They walked for who knows how long before Dax finally stopped. He looked around carefully and said in a low voice, “Let’s est here for a bit. I’ll go set up a few simple traps.”
Thalia nodded. “Okay.”
she took out her water bottle and took a sip, trying to steady her rapid breathing and pounding heart. But soon, she sensed t, a gaze locked onto her.
n the pitch-black, silent jungle, that feeling of being watched was even more intense.
Thalia whipped her head around, her heart leaping into her throat.
Someone’s caught up to me!
They’ve found me!’ she realized, fear gripping her.
She gripped her pistol tightly, sweat beading on her forehead from nerves.
After about ten seconds, that feeling of being watched suddenly vanished.
But Thalia didn’t dare let her guard down.
For reasons unknown, the person hiding in the shadows hadn’t tried to kill her right away.
Could it be that this person isn’t from Vera’s side?
Did Darion Blackburn’s people catch up to me?’ she thought, her heart skipping a beat.
‘Impossible.
They shouldn’t be able to get here so quickly, she tried to reassure herself.

Her palms were shck with sweat, but she forced herself to stay calm.
After a bit. Dax came back. “How are you doing? Got your strength back?” he asked.
“Yeah, I’m feeling alright. We can head out now,” Thalia replied.
After a moment, Thalia said, “Oh, right, just now, I had this feeling someone was watching me. Dax, did you see anyone around when you came back?”
Dax froze for a second, then shook his head. “Nope, didn’t notice anyone. Are you sure you’re not just imagining things”
Thalia shook her head firmly. “No way. It’s not just my imagination. I’ve felt it more than once already.”
Dax’s face grew tense. “Let’s not stay here. We need to keep going deeper. They’re still after us. We’ll wait for daylight, when it’ll be easier to take care of them.”
