Helen watched as Thalia practically fled the room, her expression blank. She turned toward the study, knocked twice, and stepped inside.

“We need to get to the bottom of what happened last night, Helen said coldly, fixing her gaze on Darion and Richard. “We can’t go around wrongfully accusing people.”

Darion asked, “Mom, what did you talk about with her?”

Helen’s eyes flickered before she replied. ‘She’s agreed to hold off on the divorce for now.”

Darion’s eyes lit up instantly. “Are you serious?”

Helen said, “I told you, it’s only temporary. Whether she brings it up again is all up to you.”

Darion stepped forward and hugged Helen. “Mom. I knew you’d come through.”

With that, Darion walked out. He’d already gotten the guest list from last night, and now he needed to check in with each family whose kids were about Keith’s age.

Helen slapped her arm in exasperation and muttered. “That little troublemaker. He’s already an adult, but he still acts like a kid.”

Richard looked at her. “What did you say to Thalia?”

Helen closed the study door and sat down. “Those two just aren’t a good match. If they’re going to break up, let them.

“But before the divorce is final, we need to find Darion a suitable match. I won’t let him get tangled up with Miya again-not under any circumstances.”

Richard’s brows knitted together. “If Darion finds out about this, he’ll never agree to it.”

“He will,” Helen said, sounding sure. “If Thalia is the one picking out his future wife, do you think they’ll ever last?”

Richard knitted his brows at her, and after a moment, he muttered, “We never should’ve let them get married in the first place.”

When Thalia got home, she stepped out of the elevator and spotted Wendy squatting right by her door. She blinked and asked. “Why are you here?”

“How could you not tell me about what happened last night?” Wendy stood up and wrapped Thalia in a big hug. “My baby Thalia, you’ve been wronged.”

Thalia opened the door and dragged Wendy inside. Wendy’s legs had gone numb from squatting so long, so Thalia wanted to help her out.

Once they were settled on the couch. Thalia said, “I already owned up to it. How can you be so sure I’m the one who got hurt?”

“Hey, that’s not fair. Now you’re making me mad!” Wendy’s face grew serious. She continued, “We grew up together. I know you inside out.

“You can’t stand Miya, and you wouldn’t even bother looking at her kid, let alone kick him. You only confessed so Darion

would divorce you, isn’t that it?”

Thalia felt her chest tighten and sniffled. “Wendy, why are you always so good to me?”

Wendy understood her and always cared about her. On the other hand, Richard and Helen only had eyes for Miya. Whenever Thalia was hurt or treated unfairly, they never gave a damn.

Wendy hugged her tight. “Damn that Darion! If he’d agreed to the divorce earlier, you wouldn’t have had to suffer like that. Since when have you ever let anyone walk all over you?”
