Chapter 625
Thalia pressed her lips together, hesitated for a bit, then finally typed out a message and hit send
Thaha. (Okay, I’ll send it to you once my signal gets better.]
Mrs. Blackburn replied with an “OK” emoji. She was pretty trendy for her age.
Thalia scrolled through the chat history, her heart aching with sourness and sadness.
She couldn’t help but touch her throat again, feeling how stiff it was under her fingers. She swallowed, but nothing felt different anymore.
But she couldn’t speak anymore.
She hugged her knees, burying her face in her knees, curling herself up into a tiny ball.
Dax couldn’t stand watching anymore. His chest felt tight, and he just had to leave the room, giving Thalia some space to process everything.
Ryan didn’t stay either. As the door closed behind him, he thought he heard muffled sobs coming from inside.
Ryan paused, his expression faltering for a moment before he let out a helpless sigh.
“What kind of mess is this?” Dax finally spoke up, unable to hold it in anymore.
“Everything was fine, and then that Miya had to stir up trouble again. How can she be so vicious? Is she only happy when she’s hurting someone?”
Ryan’s eyes turned cold. “For now, we can’t let her die. She might know how to make the antidote. Mr. Blackburn and Mrs. Blackburn can’t stay like this forever.”
The danger’s only been pushed back for now.
If this round doesn’t work, Vera’s bound to send more people after us.
If Darion and Thalia still haven’t recovered by then, it’s basically just waiting to die.
Darion, especially.
He’s lost his sight.
His whole world was shattered.
Dax sighed. “Damn, what a tragedy. So, what’s up with that vicious woman now?”
Ryan replied, “She’s still barely alive.”
“That’s good,” Dax nodded, then added, “By the way, any idea who that guy was who helped us out earlier? I asked around. but nobody could tell me who he was.”
Ryan shook his head. “No idea either. He went into the jungle with Vera’s crew. He probably noticed Mrs. Blackburn way earlier, but just stayed hidden. He never tried anything against her, so I doubt he’s one of the bad guys.”
Dax scratched the back of his head. “Who is this guy, anyway? He’s like a ghost, so secretive.”

Ryan said. Tll keep looking into it. You know Mr. Doyle, right? Keep in touch with him, maybe he can dig up something for
Dax nodded. “Yeah.”
“What’ Failed again?”
Her voice carried a hint of surprise as she admired her nails, the phone on speaker beside her. Listening to the report, she tsk’d twice. “That woman really has nine lives.”
