Chapter 631

Darion gently wiped the tears from the corner of Thalia’s eyes, his voice extra soft and tender. “I always wanted you to care about me, to have me in your heart, to shed tears because you care. But now that you really do, it hurts me even more Don’t try. Thalia. I’ll be alright.”
The next second, Thalia took his hand, turned his palm upward, and wrote slowly, letter by letter, with her fingertip.
She wrote: [Don’t overthink it, I just got some sand in my eye.]
Darion read what she wrote in his palm and smiled. “Looks like this hospital room must be pretty lousy if there’s sand lying
around.”
Thalia held onto his fingers, not writing anything else.
She looked at Darion, his eyes covered in white bandages, and her heart ached bitterly.
She’d wanted a divorce, wanted to split up and move on, but she never wished for him to get hurt, never wanted him gone for good.
They’d loved each other once, and parting on good terms would’ve been ideal.
But right now, how could she leave?
He went blind because he was protecting her.
From now on, she would be his eyes, until his vision fully returned.
Maybe then, the bittersweet pain in her heart would fade, even just a little.
Thalia’s mind was racing, her long lashes quivering softly.
Thalia.” Darion called out softly.
The room went quiet. Even though she was holding his hand, he still felt uneasy inside.
He called her name again, his voice low and shaky. “If you’re here, just touch me, let me know you’re here. Otherwise, I won’t know where you are, and I can’t help but feel anxious.”
His voice was slow and hoarse, and even he didn’t realize how scared he sounded.
When had he ever shown this kind of vulnerability before?
Now that he couldn’t see, the only way he could sense the world was through sounds and touch.
But Thalia couldn’t speak anymore.
He felt uneasy, unsure of himself.
Thalia squeezed his fingers gently, letting him know she was still there.
After a while, she traced another message in his palm.
She wrote: [I’m not going anywhere.]

10 Your T
You said you wouldn’t leave before, but you still did. Do you know how terrified I was? What if something had happened to
you?
Thalia was caught off guard for a moment, not sure how to respond.
Danion squeezed her hand tighter. “You promised me again this time. You won’t leave. Can I trust you to really mean it Dow?”
Thalia squeezed his hand gently in response, letting him know she was still there.
Darion’s lips curved into a smile. “So you’re never leaving me again?”
But this time, Thalia didn’t answer.
The room fell silent once more.
The curve of Darion’s lips faded a bit. After a while, he finally said, “Thalia, I’m a little thirsty.”
The hand holding his fingertips let go.
