Chapter 689 Promise
“Are you serious?” Wendy asked, her lashes trembling with nervous excitement. Quinn kissed her ear, finding her earlobe irresistibly cute. He couldn’t help but suck on it for a moment before saying, “As long as you do what I say.”
Wendy went rigid, gritting her teeth before finally asking, “What do you want me to do?”
Excitement flickered in Quinn’s blue eyes. “Say you love me.”
Wendy bit her lip, struggling for a moment before, as if throwing caution to the wind, she opened her mouth to speak.
But in the next instant, Quinn suddenly kissed her, sealing her words with his lips.
“Mm…” Wendy let out a muffled sound.
Wendy looked at him in utter confusion.
What was that supposed to mean?
Did he not want to hear it anymore?’ she wondered.
After a while, he let her go and said in a husky voice, “Baby, why don’t you make the first move for once?”
Wendy’s breath was a little ragged. “You’re changing the rules?”
Quinn wrapped his arms around her, nuzzling her cheek affectionately. “When you truly fall in love with me, you’ll say it without me having to ask.”
Wendy sneered inwardly, ‘So he does know himself.’
But then, when she remembered the condition he’d set, a pang of sadness hit her
again.
The chill from the ice pack on her eyes seeped into her, making her heart feel just as
cold.
She hesitated for less than a minute before saying, “Okay, I promise.”
Quinn kissed her. “Good girl.”
He held her close, his body heat so intense it was almost overwhelming.
Wendy went stiff, barely daring to breathe, afraid to make even the slightest move.
The ice pack started to melt, so Quinn gently took it away and examined her eyes. “Not bad, the swelling’s gone. My baby’s back to being the prettiest again.”
Wendy turned her face away, looking elsewhere. They were sitting on the deck, the sea breeze brushing against her skin, the salty tang of the sea hung in the air.
The wind had messed up her hair, and she instinctively reached for a pocket, only to

realize she was just touching the fabric of her dress.
No bag, no phone, not even pockets. She had nothing to capture the moment.
A hint of sadness crossed Wendy’s face. She lowered her eyes, and a shadow seemed to hang over her whole being.
Just then, Quinn grabbed his phone and said, “Baby, were you thinking about taking a picture? Let’s snap one together, okay?”
He pulled Wendy close, and as soon as she looked up at him, he took a picture.
“My baby looks gorgeous. Let’s use this one,” Quinn said, checking out the photo, totally loving it. He tapped a few times on the screen and set it as his phone wallpaper. Wendy watched him, her brows knitting together in a faint frown. She stood up and walked off to the side.
Quinn immediately got up and followed her, his blue eyes glued to her the whole time.
