Chapter 716 You’re So Fierce
The air in the study felt frozen. An hourglass rested on the desk, its soft ticking echoing through the room as sand slipped steadily downward. The warped glass caught Helen Blackburn’s face in a strange, distorted reflection.
The harsh look on her face slowly eased.
She sighed and said, “Darion, I just don’t want you to get in too deep. You two just aren’ t right for each other anymore.”
‘It’s too late,” Darion said quietly. “Thalia and I have been together for almost nine
years. Her presence has seeped into every part of me. Loving her is like a code etched deep in my soul. I can’t change that.”
Helen’s gaze grew more conflicted. “But she doesn’t love you anymore.”
‘She still loves me.”
Darion declared, unwavering.
‘Darion, you…” Helen shook her head, unable to understand him.
To her, he was being completely unreasonable.
Thalia still loves him? If she really did, why would she be so determined to divorce him?
If she cared, would she really just watch him get hurt and do nothing?
She stopped loving him a long time ago!’ Helen thought.
‘It’s because she loves me that she can’t get over what I did to her. That’s why she keeps insisting on a divorce, why she wants to stay away from me. Only by keeping her distance can she stop hurting.”
Darion said, his voice rough. He lowered his head, thinking about everything that had happened, his hands balled into fists on his knees.
“Mom, if she really didn’t love me anymore, she’d be completely indifferent. She wouldn’t care about the past anymore, and nothing I did would get any reaction out of her,” he said, turning to her, his voice trembling a little.
Helen found him completely unreasonable. “Darion, you’re just deluding yourself.”
Darion’s lips pressed into a thin line. After a long pause, he finally said, “Mom, I’ll make my own decisions. If you want to stay and take care of me and Keith, just focus on us. Thalia is my wife, and I don’t want anyone to hurt her.”
Helen was speechless.
He was clearly warning her.
Successfully unlocked!
Honestly, he’d warned her plenty of times before.
Chapter 16 You’re So fierce
But whenever she saw him hurting because of Thalia, she just couldn’t help but get
involved.
Helen let out a sigh. “I’ll try.”
Darion stood up. “It’s getting late. I want to get some rest.”
“I’ll walk you back to your room,” Helen said, getting up as well.
Darion said, “I want Thalia with me.”
Helen just stared at him, lost for words.
‘Seriously, this is just too much,’ she thought.
She turned and walked out of the study, just in time to see Thalia and the old lady coming back. “Thalia, Darion’s looking for you,” she said.
Thalia nodded, let go of the old lady, and headed upstairs.
When she walked into the study, she saw Darion searching for something on the desk. He accidentally knocked over a glass, which instantly shattered on the floor.
Thalia’s heart skipped a beat. She hurried over and pulled him back a couple of steps.
She did it so he wouldn’t step on the shards and get hurt.
“Thalia, your hands are freezing,” Darion said, wrapping his fingers around hers.
