I Divorced You Now You Beg (Thalia and Darion) novel Chapter 729

Chapter 729 On Your Knees

Helen said, “Darion, your dad is here.”

Darion lowered his head slightly, his bangs falling naturally over his forehead. He wore a black coat, his broad shoulders and straight back emphasizing his tall, lean figure.

He turned his head a bit, looked toward Richard’s seat, and called out, “Dad.”

Richard’s voice was icy. “What are you doing here?”

Helen shot back, “Emely is my son, Darion’s brother. Why can’t we be here?”

Richard’s tone grew even colder. “You’re just disturbing his rest.”

Helen’s eyes brimmed with angry tears. She gritted her teeth and snapped, “Richard, if you’re grieving Emely so much, all these days you’ve been back, have you even bothered to visit Keith? He’s Emely’s only flesh and blood. Do you even care how he’s doing now?”

Richard picked up the bottle and took a drink. The burn made him shut his eyes briefly, letting the alcohol dull his senses. After a long pause, he finally spoke, “I just want to spend some time with my son.”

As soon as he finished, a soft breeze drifted through, the chill settling over them, deepening the ache in their hearts.

Helen’s eyes welled with tears as she said, “But Darion is your son too…”

“Mom, that’s enough,” Darion cut her off. He stepped forward and knelt down in front of the tombstone.

He bowed his head, hands resting on his knees, his voice rough and strained. “Emely, I’ m sorry. I failed you.”

Helen’s tears fell instantly. She turned away, trying desperately not to cry out loud.

Richard glanced at him, the icy look in his eyes wavered for a second, but soon returned to its usual calm.

The wind in the cemetery was so cold, it cut straight to the bone.

By the time they got back to Rosewood Manor, it was already evening.

The sky was still heavy with clouds, but not a single drop of rain fell.

Richard didn’t come inside. He just frowned and said, “Bring Keith out. I’m taking him back to the old house.”

Helen replied, “Keith likes it here.”

Richard was clearly annoyed. “What’s wrong with the old house?”

Helen frowned at him. “Nothing’s wrong. Keith just likes living here.”

She paused, her tone conflicted. “You smell way too much like alcohol. Go back and take a shower. Don’t scare Keith.”

Richard was clearly annoyed. He scoffed and walked away.

“Grandma, Darry!” Keith called out, his voice bubbling with excitement as soon as he saw them return.

He beamed at them, practically bouncing with joy.

Helen gave him a gentle smile and asked, “So, what did you do today, Keith?”

Keith started counting on his little fingers. “I did some drawing and piano. I like drawing, but not piano. I finished my homework, and my teacher said it was really good…”

After he finished, he looked up at Darry. “Darry, was I awesome today?”

“Yeah, you were awesome,” Darry said, not holding back his praise.
