Chapter 731 Ten Million
The man on the other end of the line was silent for a moment, then let out a nonchalant laugh. “I’m all alone in this world. To me, money is the only thing that matters. If the deal isn’t worth it, I won’t even think about it.”
“Seven million,” Darion said coldly, raising the price.
Darion Blackburn’s voice was icy as he upped the offer.
Ethan clicked his tongue. “What’s that supposed to mean? Are you trying to buy me off with money?”
Darion’s voice was low and serious. “Since you want to talk about money, let’s talk about money. Seven million. Find Jason and bring him back to me, safe and sound.”
“Let me think about it…” Ethan said, dragging out his words.
Ethan drawled.
“Ten million,” Darion said.
“Deal,” Ethan replied.
“Hang up,” Darion said coldly.
Thalia hung up the phone. She’d listened to the whole conversation, her brows knitting together. She pulled out her phone and started typing, and a cold, robotic female voice chimed in: “Who is he? You seem to know him well, but not that well.”
Darion replied, “Just someone I met overseas who’s all about the money. As long as you pay him, he’ll do anything.”
Thalia just hummed in response. People like that just didn’t interest her.
She continued typing: “Where did Jason go missing? Is it possible Quinn took him?” Darion’s voice dropped a notch. “I don’t know yet. We’ll have to wait for specific information.”
Thalia hesitated for a moment before typing, “If only I hadn’t shown him the photo.” Jason was supposed to wait until he got real info about Wendy before heading out, but after just one look at the photo, he just took off to find her without thinking. Overseas is huge, with endless islands out there. How was he supposed to even start looking?
Did he ever stop to think what his family would do if something happened to him?
If Wendy ever found out, how would she feel?
Jason was just too impulsive.
Darion paused for a moment, then turned to her and said, “Thalia, we’re no different.
Chapter 731 Ten Million
When the one we care about most is in trouble, staying calm is impossible. All we can
think about is finding her, wishing we could take her place and bear the pain instead. We just can’t stand seeing her suffer.”
Thalia paused, staring at his face, his eyes were covered in white bandages.
Yet somehow, she felt like those bandaged eyes were still locked on her, full of
emotion.
She almost looked away without thinking, then realized how dumb that was.
He couldn’t see her at all, not with those bandages anyway.
Seriously, what was she hiding from?
Was she just dodging that sudden flutter in her chest?
Thalia didn’t dare dwell on it. She just murmured a reply, then typed, “I’m heading out
for a bit.”
Darion nodded. “Alright, can you send Ryan a message and ask him to come find me?”
“Sure,” Thalia replied.
When Ryan came in, his face was just as grim.
As soon as the study door closed, he said, “I’ve already reached out to Mr. Clark, but he hasn’t replied to any of my messages.”
When Darion heard Jason was missing, he figured right away that Quinn had something to do with it.
