Susan had returned from grocery shopping. Opening the door to find Gillian crouching over a mess of shattered glass, she immediately gasped, "Ma'am, please don't touch that! I'll clean it up."

Gillian's hand paused. Seeing it was Susan, she offered a faint smile.

Her heart felt hollow.

She should have understood York's true nature by now. What was she still hoping for?

Susan noticed the untouched food on the table and asked, "I saw Sir heading out just now. Why haven't you eaten your breakfast? Sir specifically instructed me that he was cooking breakfast himself this morning."

Gillian stood up, giving a dismissive smile. "He made it for someone else. I have no appetite for it."

"Susan, please clean this up. I'll grab something on the way. I'm going to be late if I don't leave now."

Today was the day of Hailey's discharge.

York had been at the hospital the entire time, running up and down to handle all the paperwork.

When he returned to the ward, he was holding a massive bouquet of red roses. Gillian was in the middle of giving Hailey her discharge instructions.

The vibrant red roses contrasted beautifully with Hailey’s innocent demeanor. When she took the flowers, her smile was even more radiant than the blooms. "York, how did you know I love red roses?"

She looked absolutely thrilled.

York offered a tender smile. "You're my girlfriend. It's not hard to find out what you like."

Spoiled and adored, Hailey’s smile grew even more bashful.

Gillian pressed her lips together.

Once, she had bought red roses to arrange at home, and York had called them tacky.

"Director Jordan, I heard you didn't have breakfast and your blood sugar dropped. Vice President Stanton dropped off some food at your desk," Chloe Langdon said as she walked in to fetch Gillian for lunch.

Gillian had been stuck in surgery all morning before heading straight to outpatient consultations. She hadn't found a single moment to eat, and by the time she finished, she had nearly passed out.
