Surprisingly, just as they parked the car, they ran into Hailey.
"Gillian? Vice President Stanton? What a coincidence!"
Gillian was genuinely confused. Wasn't Hailey supposed to be having dinner with York and her parents right now? What was she doing at the hospital at this hour?
"It is quite a coincidence. What are you doing here?" Miles asked her. "Weren't you meeting your parents with your boyfriend?"
"My dad was feeling dizzy this afternoon, so we came to get him checked out. York is upstairs keeping him company. I just came down to grab some ID from the car." Hailey beamed, every single word strategically designed to assert her territory.
York was her boyfriend, and they were going to get married.
"Gillian, is your mom staying at this hospital too? I heard she's been severely ill. How is she doing? If you need anything at all, just let me know. If I can't help, I'll make sure York steps in to assist you."
Gillian smiled faintly. "No need."
Accepting Hailey's offer would mean stooping to the absolute bottom—relying on a mistress to pull strings just to get her own husband to help her.
How laughable.

After heading upstairs, Gillian visited her mother. Mrs. Jordan was lucid today, and the moment she saw Gillian, she asked about York.
"He's busy at the company. I'll bring him by when he has time." Gillian brushed it off again. "The weather is nice outside. How about I take you for a walk?"
Gillian accompanied her mother for a stroll. To her utter dismay, the moment they entered the courtyard, they bumped straight into Hailey walking arm-in-arm with York.
The two were practically glued together in a display of total intimacy.
Mrs. Jordan froze, her expression shifting to sheer shock. "You—"
"Mom," Gillian quickly cut in. "I'm feeling a little hungry. Let's go back upstairs and grab something to eat."
"Gillian, is this your mother?" Hailey flashed an innocent, sugary smile. "Hello, ma'am. I'm a colleague of Gillian's."
"Colleague, my ass! You're a homewrecker!" Mrs. Jordan viciously slapped Hailey’s hand away, her face contorting with sheer rage.
Her entire body began to tremble.
