Hailey's complexion turned a ghastly shade of pale.
Her lips trembled as she stared at York in absolute disbelief. “York, have you really been married all these years?”
York's dark eyes remained deadpan. “Yes.”
In a heartbeat, the arrogant Hailey became the target of public scorn.
Calling someone else a mistress while actively being one was beyond shameless.
Gillian was genuinely surprised. She had fully expected York to deny it. Even in this disastrous situation, he admitted it without blinking.
Almost as if he had anticipated this exact outcome.
Young and fragile, Hailey couldn't handle the crushing humiliation. Just moments ago, she had been flaunting her status as York's girlfriend; now, the reality of her position left her trembling.
“You all lied to me!” Hailey sobbed, pointing a trembling finger at Felix. “You knew he was married, yet you still treated me like his wife!”
Too terrified to lash out at York, she targeted Felix instead.
Felix threw his hands up in mock innocence. “Hey, it's not like my words magically made you a homewrecker. I only humored you because you are my cousin's mistress.”
Unable to bear another second of the humiliation, Hailey covered her face and bolted from the hall in tears.
York immediately chased after her.
Felix swallowed hard, turning to Gillian with a tentative whisper. “Are you and York really getting a divorce?”
“Your precious mistress just ran out crying,” Gillian replied with a faint, chilling smile. “Do you want me to call her for you?”
The smile didn't reach her eyes, and Felix felt a shiver run down his spine.
He clamped his mouth shut, realizing the marital war between his cousin and Gillian had truly reached the point of no return.
Gillian turned her attention to Xavier. “Mr. Sterling, thank you for stepping in.”
“Don't mention it. You're a guest,” Xavier replied with an elegant, breezy smile. “Besides, you're a friend of Miles. It's only right that I look out for you.”
