"Absolutely," Mrs. Jones chimed in. "My daughter told me just the other day that all the young women at her company are talking about you."
Finn stood in the center of the living room, staring fixedly at Yolanda.
Yolanda waved him over with a beaming smile.
"Finn, come here. Mrs. Smith and the others were just admiring the flowers you sent."
Finn closed the distance.
He glanced at the extravagant white carnations, then back at Yolanda.
"Mom."
"Yes?"
"I need to talk to you."
Yolanda's smile did not waver.
"About what? It can wait until the guests have left."
"It can't wait." Finn's voice wasn't loud, but the chilling tone carried to every corner of the room.
The guests' smiles froze, and they exchanged awkward glances.
Yolanda's expression darkened.
She quickly stood up, grabbing Finn's arm to drag him a few steps away, dropping her voice to a furious whisper.
"What is wrong with you? We have an audience! If you want to throw a tantrum, pick a better time!"
Finn yanked his arm free, turned to the gathered women, and spoke in a steady, emotionless tone.
"Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Davis, my apologies. We have an urgent family matter to attend to today. I will treat you all to dinner another time to make up for it."
The women glanced at one another, immediately taking the hint. They gathered their designer bags and hastily exited the manor.
Mrs. Smith cast one last lingering look over her shoulder before the front doors clicked shut.
The vast living room was now empty save for Finn and Yolanda.
Yolanda's face was thunderous.
"What is the meaning of this? Why do you insist on humiliating me time and time again? What exactly is your problem?"
