Karma Doesn’t Sleep The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 689

The news came out of nowhere, but Donna wasn’t really surprised. She knew Amelia’s job was all about research, so she took it in stride.

“Don’t worry about a thing, ma’am. Patrick lives just around the corner. The house will be fine! I’ve practically raised Timmy myself. He’s a great kid, really. You can count on me.”

Amelia smiled. “I know. If Timmy wants to go spend time with his dad, just let him.”

No matter how much she disliked Clive, he was still Timmy’s father. And to be fair, Clive did care about both kids.

“I understand, ma’am.” Donna checked the time and got up. “Let me help you pack.”

“Thanks. I only need a few changes of clothes. I… I have to step out for a bit. I might be back late, so don’t wait for me at dinner.”

Donna grinned knowingly. “Going to see Mr. Packman, aren’t you? Go on, ma’am. I’m sure he’ll miss you like crazy. Have a good date!”

Amelia just smiled, saying nothing more.

She really was going to meet Ryan.

She had to tell him she’d found a possible cure for him. She wasn’t totally sure it would work, but if there was even a sliver of hope, it was worth the shot.

She wanted Ryan to be healthy, to live a long life. She wanted to grow old with him.

Before heading to Maplewood Garden, Amelia called Ryan.

Usually, he picked up right away. This time, her call rang for almost half a minute before he answered.

“Amelia, what’s up?” His voice was as gentle as always, not a single flaw in it. But there was some noise in the background—people talking, and she could hear a woman laughing.

“Are you busy?” Amelia asked.

“Not really. Just having dinner with Nathan and a few others, talking things over.”

His voice was deep and a little rough, with that irresistible edge.

Nothing had changed.

But somehow, everything felt just a little bit different.

Amelia put down her phone and rolled down the window, letting the night air clear her head.

Ryan’s address popped up on her screen.

It was a historic old restaurant. Amelia remembered Ryan mentioning it to her not long ago, saying the food was amazing.

He’d told her, “Their signature dish is right up your alley. When you’re free, I’ll take you to try it.”

But now he was there without her, having dinner with someone else.
