Karma Doesn’t Sleep The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 690

Amelia tried to tell herself not to overthink it.

It was just dinner—nothing more. She’d be fine.

After all, it was Ryan.

But maybe that was the problem. Because it was Ryan, there was a stubborn ache in her chest, the feeling that this should’ve been their place to discover together—just the two of them.

Inside the private dining room, things were already in full swing.

Ryan and Zoe were there, along with the two Morris brothers. Aaron was out on the terrace, taking a work call, so it was just Zoe, Nathan, and Ryan left at the table.

Nathan waited until Ryan set his phone down before daring to speak.

“That was Amelia, wasn’t it?” Nathan asked, grinning like he always did. “Dude, not cool. Why didn’t you just bring her along? I haven’t seen Amelia in forever. I kind of miss her!”

Ryan barely glanced up, shooting Nathan a look that could freeze lava.

“There’s a whole table of food here. Isn’t that enough to keep your mouth busy?”

Even Nathan had to admit, that glare gave him goosebumps.

Ryan’s face was as blank as ever—a poker face for everyone except Amelia—but Nathan had known him too long not to sense the storm brewing underneath.

Yeah, maybe now wasn’t the time to joke around.

Zoe glanced at Ryan. For a second, something dark flickered in her pretty, glass-bright eyes, but it disappeared just as quickly.

“Come on, this dinner is for me. Ryan planned it to welcome me back!” she said, half-pleading, half-playing the brat. “Why would we bring anyone else?”

Nathan couldn’t help but laugh. “Zoe, how’s Amelia an outsider? She’s basically Ryan’s—”

He didn’t even finish before Ryan reached over and placed a piece of pan-seared sea bass onto Zoe’s plate.

“Try it. This is the house specialty. I think you’ll like it,” Ryan said, his voice flat as ever.

But to Nathan, it felt like lightning.

Ryan… serving food to Zoe?

Since when did Ryan ever take care of anyone but Amelia?

Francisco led her through the halls to the private room.

Amelia reached out and pushed the door open just a crack—

Zoe’s bright, teasing laughter spilled out before she could even step inside.

“Nathan, you are the worst teacher! You tried to show me that drinking game and I lost three times in a row! Drink up!”

Amelia glanced in. The first thing she saw was Ryan’s familiar back—broad shoulders, perfect lines.

Zoe sat right next to him. Ryan’s arm was draped over the back of Zoe’s chair, casual, but from where Amelia stood, it almost looked like he was half-hugging her.

His long, elegant fingers were idly tapping against the chair.

Amelia stepped into the room.

“Sorry to interrupt the party.”

Aaron, sitting across from the door, had already spotted her the moment she walked in.
