Karma Doesn’t Sleep The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 735

The hospital corridor to the ICU felt endless and cold, shadows stretching under the fluorescent lights. Aaron walked down it in a crisp suit, his tall silhouette cutting through the quiet gloom.

One of the windows hadn’t been shut. The chill slipped in, lifting the curtains and brushing against Aaron’s sleeve. Even though rare sunshine painted the tiled floor, the winter light felt pale and empty, all brightness and no warmth.

He adjusted his glasses and had barely reached the ICU doors when they flew open with a bang. Dr. Wilson rushed out, face grave, nurses at his side as they pushed Ryan’s gurney down the hall.

“Move! Ready the crash cart—now!”

Francisco was hot on their heels, gray with shock, barely noticing Aaron until he stumbled and nearly hit the ground. Aaron caught him just in time. Francisco looked up at him, struggling for words. “Mr. Morris—Mr. Packman, he—”

He faltered, voice breaking. Aaron squeezed his shoulder, steadying him.

Together, they waited outside the emergency room. A nurse came over, paperwork in hand.

“Mr. Morris, Mr. Packman listed you and a Miss Amelia as his contacts. Could you sign here as family?”

Aaron’s grip on his pen tightened. He hesitated just for a moment, then signed.

Minutes dragged by, one after the other. Aaron glanced at his watch. He was usually all about efficiency, his mind ticking through plans and meetings. In two hours, he was supposed to be on a golf course with government officials. He looked back at the red light over the emergency room door, a ghostly warning. None of this felt real.

He’d known Ryan for years, probably better than anyone. He knew Ryan had been through things most people couldn’t imagine—pain, loss, more than his share. This couldn’t be how it ended, could it?

Aaron stood, ready to leave and force himself back into normal life. Right then, the emergency room light clicked off.

He stopped breathing.

A second later Dr. Wilson stepped out, yanking down his mask. He looked wrung out, defeated.

Francisco shot forward, whole body shaking. “Dr. Wilson, did he—did Mr. Packman make it?”

Dr. Wilson just shook his head. “I’m sorry, Francisco. We did everything we could. He’s gone.”

Francisco collapsed, folding to the floor.

Aaron closed his eyes, feeling like he was floating a few feet outside his own skin.

He moved forward, voice quiet. “Can I see him?”

“You can, but Mr. Morris—prepare yourself. It’s—Mr. Morris!”

Aaron didn’t wait for an answer. He crossed the threshold, moving on instinct.

Ryan was on the table, eyes closed, skin white as paper. The cut that ran down his chest had been stitched neatly, but the angry red wound stood out against his body, cruel and final.
