Karma Doesn’t Sleep The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 741

The black G-Wagon disappeared into the night, its taillights swallowed up by the darkness while fireworks flared somewhere far off, echoing louder and louder across the city.

On a quiet hilltop under the icy moonlight, a stooped figure appeared, the brim of his wide hat casting his face into shadow. He stood still, watching the spot where the G-Wagon had vanished.

Behind him, a blond-haired, blue-eyed man strode up and spoke in a low voice, “It’s time to go, sir.”

The man turned, feeling ahead with a white cane. Each movement was stiff and awkward. When the cane scraped loose gravel, it slipped, and he staggered, collapsing hard onto the ground.

The bodyguard beside him instinctively reached out, then hesitated, recalling earlier instructions. He held himself back, arm half-raised, concern etched on his face.

Slowly, painfully, the fallen man pushed himself upright. Even hunched, he was tall—lean and sharp-edged, like a mountain in winter. His bony fingers groped for his hat, settling it on his head, and then, relying on his cane, he picked his way forward inch by inch until he finally found the car. The distance was only a few dozen meters, but it took nearly ten minutes for him to get there. He moved like every step cost him more than he could give, stopping often to catch his breath. Through it all, he never made a sound.

Amelia woke to the antiseptic hush of a hospital room. She blinked, taking in the IV taped to her hand, her gaze drifting to Felix, asleep and bundled up on the tiny couch beside her bed. The couch barely fit his long limbs; even curled up, he looked uncomfortable.

She turned away, her expression blank, and stared out a window washed in gray, the sky heavy and hard to read. For a long moment, she just sat there. Then, suddenly, she sat up, yanking the needle from the back of her hand.

She didn’t even get both feet to the floor before a shadow swept over her. Felix was suddenly there, his hand gripping her shoulder, warm and insistent.

“Amelia!” he burst out, not even fully awake, panic tightening his voice. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?”

He was still groggy, but he caught the look on her face—a blank, distant stare straight out the window. Before he even processed it, she was already sitting up, the IV tossed aside. The message was clear, and the fear hit Felix like a punch.

“Amelia, you wanna cry, scream, throw stuff—fine. Hell, if you need to blow off steam, I’ll go with you, I don’t care if we have to dig up Ryan’s grave…” His voice wavered, rough with emotion. “Just—don’t pull this silent disappearing act on me, okay?”

He’d never felt so completely out of control around anyone before.

Amelia glanced at the hand he still had pressed to her shoulder. “Did you think I was going to jump?”

Felix exhaled sharply, almost a snort. “Look in the mirror. You look like you’re done with the world.”
