Karma Doesn’t Sleep The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 744

“Mr. Baker, can you tell Timmy that I still have some work to finish? I’ll head back in a few days.”

Felix hovered, his fingers paused mid-air, as he glanced at Amelia. There was something about her—she always seemed to know too much, almost scarily sharp.

He typed exactly what Amelia had asked, sent the message off, and slipped his phone away. Then he walked over and took the seat across from Amelia, folding his arms and quietly watching her eat.

Amelia acted like he wasn’t even there. She calmly finished her meal before finally looking up.

“So, I thought you said there was work for me to do. Let’s get to it. The faster we handle this, the sooner you can go home and be with Ruby. She and Grandpa Baker are both really worried about you—they miss you, you know.”

She said it like it was no big deal, even sounding like she genuinely cared about him—when just a minute ago she’d been all business.

Felix stared at Amelia’s pale cheeks, searching for any hint of how she really felt. Nothing. If this woman wanted to hide her emotions, she was impossible to read.

“It’s about Caroline,” Felix said, turning on his recorder. “I need your statement. Can you go over what happened with Caroline—how she caused you to fall from the helicopter? The more details, the better.”

Amelia glanced at the healing wound on her hand, remembering the moment Caroline had attacked her.

Just as she opened her mouth to answer, a noisy commotion flared up right outside the door.

A familiar voice shouted through the hallway.

“Let me in, I want to see Amelia! I’m her child’s father!”

Felix raised an eyebrow and glanced at Amelia, quietly giving her the choice of what to do.

Amelia was about to respond when she heard a little voice—her daughter’s—blurting out in the hall.

“Daddy, I want to see Mommy!”

A flicker of emotion passed over Amelia’s face. Felix caught it instantly and felt his dislike for Clive deepen.

Really, using your own kid just to force a meeting? How low can you go?
