Rowan was quickly brought over.

She carefully examined Raymond’s throat and the base of his tongue. Then she asked him to try making a few sounds. At last, she nodded with satisfaction.
“Good boy, you did very well.”
A hint of excitement flickered in her gray–blue eyes. “I thought you would have to pray in front of the Moon Goddess for at least a year or two before he could speak.”
Laila quickly asked, “But didn’t you say he had to cough up a mouthful of poisoned blood before he could speak?”
“That is the usual case.” Dr. Rowan waved her hand dismissively. “But it looks like the poison in his body has mostly been cleared out. As for speaking, he has not talked for two years, so it is normal for him to be rusty at first. Take it slowly. He will keep getting better.”
Everyone heard this and let out a breath of relief at the same time. They looked at each other and smiles appeared on their faces.
that During these past days, they had been waiting every day for Raymond to cough up mouthful of black blood. Rowan had sounded so serious when she said it before, as if Raymond would never be able to speak if that blood didn’t come out. And yet Raymond had not coughed up anything at all. He simply opened his mouth and called a name.
Rowan’s medical skill were difficult to describe. Sometimes it was as precise as wolves tracking prey. Other times they were as carefree as the wind.
But it did not matter. As long as it worked.
Laila stepped forward. She placed her right hand on her left shoulder and bowed deeply. That was the most formal gesture of respect among wolves, usually used only when greeting a leader or a great benefactor of the pack.
“Dr. Sagewood,” she lowered her head and spoke solemnly, “this bow should have come from Raymond himself. But his legs aren’t steady yet. When he’s fully recovered, I’ll have him thank you in person.”
Rowan calmly accepted the bow, then waved her hand. “That is enough. Stand up. I accept the salute, so the treatment fee is waived.”

Laila froze. “That won’t do…”

“Why not?” Rowan glared at her. Her gray–blue eyes gleamed like two bright glass marbles under the candlelight. “Are you refusing to listen to me now?”
Laila could not help laughing awkwardly. She quickly forced a smile. “I would never dare! Then… if I do not pay the treatment fee, how about I owe you a favor instead?”
“Enough, enough. I’m too lazy to argue with you.” Rowan rolled her eyes, turned around, and walked to her medicine box. She took out a new bottle of medicine. “He still needs to keep taking medicine, but from now on, it will be this one.”
Everyone expressed their thanks again.
After Rowan left, Laila sent someone to notify Snowpeak Pack as well.
Samson and the others arrived quickly.
Raymond called out to each of them one by one. Samson, Moira, and Phoebe…
Although his voice still sounded a little stiff, each name came out clearly.
Phoebe hugged him and burst into tears again.
After they all left, Laila finally took Raymond to the sacred grove.
This time, she could finally let her family “see” a complete Raymond.
Deep inside the sacred grove, Laila stood before the soul plaques. She placed her right hand on her left shoulder and bowed deeply.
Raymond copied her movements, bending down clumsily.
After a long silence, Laila asked Faulkner to take Raymond outside first, while she stayed behind alone.
The wind passed through the trees, carrying the rustling sound of fallen leaves. She had countless things she wanted to say, but her throat tightened, and not a single word came out.
She wanted to say that she once thought life was too difficult. She had been holding up Silvermoon Pack alone, like a lone wolf walking through a blizzard, cold and exhausted. But things were different now.
She had Raymond. She had Samuel. From now on, she would live fully and move forward.
