Chapter 253 Cloria’s Is Making a Killing
Third–person POV:
“Samuel is busy. You’re not allowed to bother him! We can go on our own.”
Morgana huffed, grabbed Gracie, and the three of them set off for Cloria.
The journey was uneventful. As they neared the store, Morgana clenched her hands and shot Laila a glare.
“Laila, if the business is terrible, you’re not allowed to laugh at me. And you’re definitely not telling Samuel.”
“Sure.”
Laila answered lazily, “And what if the business is good?”
“As if.” Morgana rolled her eyes.
If business were good, Estelle wouldn’t keep asking her for more investment.
Laila only smiled and said nothing.
Once they got there, Morgana would see for herself.

Soon, the carriage stopped outside Cloria. The moment the curtain was lifted, Morgana saw a crowd packed inside the store. It looked bustling and full of customers.
She was stunned. Wasn’t it supposed to be doing poorly? How could it be this busy?
Just as she was about to get down to take a closer look, Laila spoke. “Gracie, go inside and ask if they have sapphire enamel bracelets. If they do, I’d like to buy a few.”
Morgana frowned. “Why don’t we just go in ourselves?”
Laila gave a faint smile. “It’s too crowded, I don’t want my new dress ruined.”
She sat calmly, her tone just as composed.
Morgana glanced again. It really was crowded, and there were people pushing and squeezing everywhere.
“Fine. Go check,” she told Gracie.
Gracie got down from the carriage, Morgana watched as she entered the shop, only to struggle for quite a while just to get near a display counter. Morgana felt a wave of relief. Good thing she hadn’t gone in, as her pearl shoes would’ve been ruined.
Gracie finally managed to squeeze her way in and asked a clerk with some difficulty, “Do you have sapphire enamel bracelets?”
The young clerk looked up at her and raised their voice over the noise. “Those are sold on the second floor, but they’re out of stock. We’ve made batch after batch this year and sold out every time. If you want one, you’ll have to place an order upstairs. The next batch won’t be available until February next year.”
Pre–order? And wait until February?

Gracie slowly backed out, then went up the stairs. The second floor was elegantly decorated, with eight or nine counters. In front of each one were cushioned chairs, and each display was serving a single guest.
Off to one side, more than a dozen people were waiting. They were sitting comfortably while eating pastries and sipping coffee.
Gracie glanced around and saw several customers completing purchases.
A clerk came to assist her. She asked again, “Do you have sapphire enamel bracelets?”
The clerk sighed. “Just your luck, they’re all sold out. Would you like to place a pre–order?”
“Your business seems very good,” Gracie said casually, her tone measured. “The last time I came, it was just as full. I suppose the popular designs are all gone, too?”
“Of course,” the clerk said proudly. “Aside from Bellgari, no jewelry store in the Rydar Kingdom does better than Cloria.” They sized her up, noting her refined clothing and presence. “If not the sapphire enamel bracelet, would you consider something else? We have nuby and topaz designs too. Though many are out of stock, and we’ll only restock next year.”
Gracie glanced at the display, looking unimpressed. “No need. I’ll come back tomorrow with my employer and let her choose herself.”
Then, she left.
Back in the carriage, she first reported to Laila, “Ms. Conlay, the sapphire enamel bracelets are sold out.”
Laila nodded. “Those bracelets are originally Bellgari’s design. Cloria’s copied them, but they still sell very well.”
“Sell well?” Morgana looked delighted. “Then the books this time should look good.”
But Gracie remained troubled. The clerk had said their business had always been strong, and it was second only to Bellgari in the entire kingdom.
Still, seeing how happy Morgana was, she held her tongue. Better to wait until Jenna sends over the account books.
Cloria’s had been funded jointly by Estelle and Morgana, but the shop itself was managed by Jenna.
And right on time, it was nearly the period when the quarterly accounts would be delivered.
Yet, Gracie couldn’t help but worry. What if the books weren’t real?
No, that couldn’t be.
