Samuel nodded. “Have you handled Morgana’s situation?”

Laila nodded. “Yes. Luke went to check the accounts.”

“That’s good.”

He was busy and had no interest in getting involved.

Besides, the more he interfered, the more Morgana would depend on him.

Lately, he had been deliberately keeping his distance from her.

Her thoughts were all over the place. One moment, she was thinking about how to handle Morgana’s situation. The next question is whether she should continue working with Samuel. Then, she thought about her teachers–how they had left without waiting for her to return, Martha had told her that on the day of the winter solstice, Aerith and Shane had both come, but she was not there.

After the mating ceremony was canceled, they all left.

They hadn’t even waited to see her.

Thinking about it made Laila’s chest tighten.

But she understood. Her teacher and seniors were all busy, so they couldn’t stay here for long.
