“Maybe I liked him even earlier than I realized,” Laila said softly.

Pearl’s eyes widened.

Ms. Conlay has fallen in love with Prince Samuel?

Thinking about it, Samuel was handsome and powerful, so it was only natural to fall for someone like him.

Pearl looked troubled. “Ms. Conlay, you know my drawing skills aren’t exactly good…”

‘I know.” Laila nodded. “I’ve already arranged a teacher for you. Learn first, then draw them from memory. But until then, don’t orget their faces. This is important, Pearl.”

‘Got it!” Pearl nodded immediately at the mention of importance.

The two fell silent for a moment. Then, Pearl suddenly said, “Oh, right, Ms. Conlay, when I was at the market today, I saw Alpha Damian. I heard they bought gifts and were heading to Ironclaw Pack.”

Her mind immediately went to Holt’s current mate, Victoria, and her brother, the Alpha who had replaced Samuel as the kingdom’s supreme commander.

Was Damian trying to win Holt over? And that commander as well?

That wouldn’t do.

Her expression darkened. She went to find Viola and asked her to look into Damian’s current whereabouts.

As she spoke, she stood up. “I’m going to the Royal Court. His Majesty might not even know that Elyse is dead.”

King Vaughn had once been cared for by Elyse. If he knew, he wouldn’t ignore it.
