Titus wanted to say they didn’t need Samuel to step in, but Samuel was already walking too fast. He had no choice but to hurry after him with Ruby.

After a moment, Samuel caught a familiar scent of Laila in the air.

The moment he smelled it, his mind felt more alert. He hadn’t sensed her scent for days.

Even his wolf, Griffin, took a deep breath in his mind. “I wish we could stay with her every day.”

Samuel paused at that. Griffin had never liked any she–wolf’s scent this much before. Could Laila really be his fated mate?

But Griffin couldn’t sense a fated mate right now, so there was no way to be sure. Only when the curse was broken would he know the truth.

Thinking about the episode three days ago, Samuel frowned. It had come without warning. Luke had investigated afterward but found no cause.

Shawn was stunned.
