She had already started working together with the soul inside her body, and now she had the strength of an Alpha wolf, maybe even stronger than Holt. But she didn’t want to give herself away.
The moment that secret got out, she’d have to figure out how to explain it all to Holt, and that was a headache she
didn’t need.
So Maris didn’t fight back, and instead just ran flat out the whole way.
She remembered Holt telling her once that the place Victoria was living in now used to belong to Laila.
After the Silvermoon Pack massacre, Laila had reinforced her residence there as well, and even after dissolving the mate bond with Holt, she hadn’t torn the place down. So it was the safest spot in the entire den.
Before, Maris had despised Laila and refused to set foot in there, But now, it was the perfect place to hide.
As she sprinted, the servants spotted the wolves chasing her down. Some of them were killed on the spot, and the rest fled, screaming for help.
Maris didn’t pay any of it a second thought. Her own life was what mattered most.
When she reached the place, Victoria had already heard the commotion and stepped outside to see what was going on.
The moment she saw Maris in her wolf form, her brows knit together. “What are you doing here? This is my territory!”
Maris shot her a single glance and knocked her aside with one paw, sending her flying.
Victoria had never imagined Maris would be that brutal. She had no time to dodge and was slammed hard into the ground, where she lay for a long moment, unable to get back up.
Maris rushed inside, shifted back into human form, and slammed the front door shut.
“Luna!”
Victoria’s servants ran over to help her up. They had barely gotten her on her feet when four masked figures came charging up, the killing intent rolling off them in waves, their wolf–clawed arms drenched in blood.
Before Victoria could even register what was happening, the four figures in black had already closed in. Their arms were shifted into wolf form, blood dripping from the razor–sharp claws, and it was obvious they had slaughtered their way here.

A heavy, suffocating Alpha aura hit her square in the face–there had to be at least two Alphas in this group.
As a Beta, Victoria wouldn’t be locked in place the way an Omega would be, but the instinctive shudder running through her was still enough to make her legs go weak beneath her.
She let out a scream and whipped around, pounding her fists against the door. “Maris, open up! Open the door! They… they’ve got Alphas!”
The Omega servants were just as terrified, their own legs giving out from under them, but they still instinctively threw themselves in front of Victoria.
She was their Luna, and they had to protect her at all costs.
One of the masked figures swung his wolf–shifted arm, his claws raking straight across both of their throats. The two of them felt only a cold flash at their necks before blood sprayed out, gushing in dark streams. A single swipe had ripped their throats open, and they couldn’t even cry out before they crumpled to the ground.
Victoria collapsed to the floor in pure terror with both hands clamped over her ears, sobbing and screaming,
道
“Help! Somebody help me!”
She had never set foot on a battlefield. She had never even been to an arena. From the time she was a child, everything she had ever learned was how to run a pack.
