Chapter 357 He Never Loved Her
Chapter 357 He Never Loved Her
Third-person POV:
Holt bent down, his face almost pressed against hers and his wolf’s breath washing over her skin. “You think I’m going to believe a single word out of you? Do you even remember what kind of person you were that night? All you cared about was saving your own life. You locked Victoria and her two maids out and refused to open that door no matter how hard they pounded on it. Oh, my mistake that wasn’t cowardice. That was the selfishness and cold blood running through your bones.
“You think the things you said to Victoria are going to brush this all under the rug? I don’t believe a word of it. Those two maids and those guards didn’t have to die. If you hadn’t run off to Victoria’s courtyard, if you’d stood your ground with me, I’d have made my peace with it even if both of us had ended up dead at those assassins hands.”
He slowly straightened up and looked down at her from above. “But you didn’t. You ran into that room and hid, and you dragged every single person in this den down with you. Your life is precious, and everybody else’s might as well be dirt. That is who you are…
“Selfish to the core, with venom in you like a snake.”
Maris’s face froze for a beat, as if she hadn’t expected him to be this hard to fool anymore.
But she let out a couple of quick scoffs soon enough, her face the picture of indifference. “Say whatever you want Anyone with half a brain would have to wonder. How exactly did Laila know there was going to be danger here? Why would she come running to save anybody? Don’t try to feed me the line that she’s just naturally warm- hearted, that she’s willing to put everything between you aside and risk her own neck for your entire family. Not in a million years.”
“Risk her neck?” Holt let out a sneer, his eyes full of contempt. “It might be risking a neck for someone like you. Fop her? Did you happen to notice how long it took her to take down those assassins? And you still have the nerve to call yourself Rydar Kingdom’s first female general? Even if you have no shame, I’m embarrassed enough for the both of us!”
“Holt!” Maris finally lost it completely, shaking with rage from head to toe, her wolf eyes everf shifting color. “If you think so little of me, then go run to your precious Laila! Isn’t that what you wanted to know-whether or not she still has feelings for you? Go on. Knock Samuel out of the picture and take her back! You can let her have my spot as secondary Luna. I’ll hand it over to her on a silver platter!”
Holt looked at her coldly. “Did I hit a sore spot? The only thing you’ve ever truly cared about was that ‘first female general’ title of yours. The funny part is, Laila couldn’t care less. The very thing you treasure most isn’t worth dut in her eyes”
Maris shot to her feet and lashed out at his face with a single swipe of her claws-wolf claws fully extended, cutting through the air with a sharp whistle.
“Get out! Get the hell out of here!”

That swing carried every ounce of strength she had. Holt jerked his head to the side, but the claws still grazed him, and blood welled up on his face right away.
He didn’t even bother wiping it off. He just stared straight at her. “Every rotten thing a person does catches up to them eventually. I’ll get what’s coming to me, and so will you You’d better watch out, because those Solantian villagers you slaughtered are going to come for your soul every single night.”
“What a joke!” Maris let out a wild laugh, her eyes bloodshot. “Bring them on! I killed them when they were alive. What the hell do I have to be afraid of from them dead? I didn’t do anything wrong! Solantians are the enemies of Rydar-soldier or civilian, every one of them deserved to die!”.
Holt shook his head in pure disappointment. “I must have been blind back then to ever pick you.”

Maris snarled, “If you’ve got the guts, banish me right now! Throw me out of Ironclaw Pack!”
Holt let out a cold laugh. “I’m not going to banish you. We’ll just drag this out, you and me. We’ll drag it out until you’re dead or until I’m dead. Neither one of us will get a moment of peace.”
Maris was beyond furious at that point, snatching up pillows and blankets and hurling them at him. “Get out! Get out and go find your Laila!”
Holt didn’t want to spare her another glance. He turned and walked out.
Behind him, the sound of Maris’s crying rose into the air, but his footsteps didn’t slow for a second.
After leaving, he went straight to the training grounds for his Alpha training.
He didn’t want to go and face Victoria. He had finally figured out where his heart truly lay. The one he actually loved was Laila.
By this point, Victoria had already been waiting on Holt for quite some time.
After hearing that Holt and Maris had gotten into a screaming match, she turned to the newly hired servant. “Where is Alpha right now?”
The servant answered, “Alpha went to the training grounds.”
Victoria froze for a moment.
“The training grounds?” she repeated under her breath. “He went to the training grounds.”
She didn’t ask anything else. She simply stayed where she was, her lashes lowered, trembling ever so slightly. The new servant watched her carefully, with no idea what was going through this Luna’s mind.
After a long moment, Victoria barely managed to tug at the corner of her mouth, as though she was trying to force a smile, but the smile never quite made it to her face.

understand. You may go.”
The servant withdrew
Victoria slowly sank back into her chair
She was no fool.
He knew she needed comfort right now, and yet he hadn’t come. Instead, he had gone to the training grounds.
