Samuel and the others were already lying in wait near the prison, waiting for the guard rotation at 8:00 p.m. before making their move.
Woodrow was stationed near the eastern corner of the prison wall, where there was a platform built into the
structure.
If the rescue succeeded, that would be the easiest spot for extraction.
The remaining three held their breath, staring intently at the guards patrolling inside.
The time arrived.
The shift change began. The original guards gradually withdrew while the new squad moved in, both sides standing together briefly to exchange information.
For those few short minutes, all patrol movement stopped completely.
Greer was the first to vault over the wall, landing silently like a swallow. Samuel and Luke followed closely behind, dropping down beside her.
But just then, the faint metallic scrape of a grappling hook catching the top of the wall sounded softly.
The three exchanged shocked looks and immediately turned toward the nearby wall. One head after another quietly appeared over the top before flipping down and landed soundlessly inside.
All of them were dressed in black night gear.
Most of them carried no Alpha werewolf aura at all, but their movements were unbelievably agile as they sped along the wall’s edge.
Samuel’s heart nearly leaped into his throat.
Who were those people? What were they doing breaking into the prison in the middle of the night?
If they caused a disturbance, tonight’s rescue mission would be completely ruined.
The place where Samuel’s group hid happened to be cloaked in shadow, and the newcomers were rapidly approaching along the wall. But Samuel’s side didn’t dare make a sound to stop them.
Damn it. Forget it.
The guard rotation was almost over. They had to move immediately.
Terrence and the others also noticed the three people hidden ahead of them.

The other group was dressed in black and hiding in the darkness. They weren’t masked, but their faces still couldn’t be seen clearly, making it impossible to tell friend from foe.
But in the next second, the three figures shot forward like the wind toward the same destination.
Terrence froze briefly.
Were they here to rescue someone, too?
That didn’t seem likely.
Even though they had long since lost contact with the homeland, they had still heard that a new marshal had taken command. His name was Blake. Terrence knew that man far too well. well.
That was his brother-in-law.
Blake was a capable Alpha warrior, but he hadn’t been on the battlefield in years. His mouth was sharper than his blade.
It wasn’t that Blake had no ability whatsoever, but whatever talent he had didn’t match his arrogance.
That kind of man always chose the easiest route.
Given the choice between negotiation and a rescue operation, he would absolutely choose negotiation. There was no way he’d try to handle both at once.
Terrence steadied himself and gave a sharp hand signal.
They should continue to sneak in.
The prison was enormous, containing 12 separate buildings along with a dungeon used specifically for the most important prisoners.
That place would definitely be heavily guarded.
Since every area was currently occupied with the changing of the guard, they managed to weave their way through unnoticed and eventually reached the area near Building 11.
Several of them pressed themselves against the outer wall, preparing to carefully peek around the corner and check how many guards were stationed at the dungeon entrance. But after only moving forward a few steps, they discovered the same three people from earlier already hiding there against the wall. One of them was leaning out slightly to observe the area ahead.
This area was much closer to the dungeon, so lamps had been lit all around. It wasn’t as bright as daylight, but far brighter than before. Fortunately, the spot they’d chosen was relatively dark, sheltered beneath the shadow of a large tree.
Still, no matter how dark it was, visibility here was better than before.

Terrence recognized one of them.
It was Samuel!

He instantly clapped a hand over his own mouth, almost unable to believe it. Samuet had come in person!
A surge of hot blood rushed straight to his head.
He knew Samuel had been the marshal who reclaimed Vagen, but he’d already been reassigned back to the Royal Court.
If Samuel appeared here now, he must be here to rescue Willy.
Samuel noticed them as well.
But all he could see were their eyes, making it impossible to identify who they were. One man in particular looked overwhelmingly emotional, tears practically spilling from his eyes.
A flicker of confusion crossed Samuel’s mind as he slowly approached.
Terrence pulled down the black mask covering his face, revealing his features.
He and Samuel had never fought together on the battlefield, but they had met several times before. Thinking Samuel would recognize him, Terrence flashed him a grin filled with excitement.
Samuel stared at the scruffy, sun-darkened face in front of him.
He didn’t recognize him at all.
But seeing the man grinning with tears nearly falling from his eyes, a sudden thought flashed through Samuel’s mind.
