Chapter 363 Negotiation
Chapter 363 Negotiation
Third-person POV:
At Mirrorshade Lake outside Simonne Tow
This time, Blake’s stance was unusually firm.
ke and Victor were still locked in negotiationis.
They’d gone back and forth several times already. He had offered gold coins, furs, and iron ore in exchange for Cottontail, but Victor had rejected every single proposal outright.
In Blake’s eyes, he had already made more than enough concessions for Cottontail’s sake. The price had gone from 5,000 gold coins to 10,000, plus 500 premium furs and 3,000 barrels of fron ore. If the other side still refused to trade a single hostage for all that, then that was nothing but insatiable greed.
And as for handing over Simonne Town? Absolutely not.
Simonne Town had been reclaimed by Samuel himself. If Blake lost it under his command, where would that leave his pride? The entire kingdom would curse him to death.
The moment this round of negotiations began, he raised the offer again up to eight thousand furs. Victor still refused.
Blake slammed his palm against the table. “I think you people never intended to negotiate in the first place. I’ve already backed down as far as I can, and you’re still asking for more? This is ridiculous. If that’s your attitude, then there’s nothing left to discuss.”
Victor sneered, “Are you sure? You really want to walk away? Are you willing to sacrifice your spy?”
Blake stiffened his neck stubbornly. “You’re the ones acting without sincerity. If there’s no sincerity, then forget it. Do whatever the hell you want. This is Prince Vance’s decision.”
Finneas’s brows tightened instantly.
Damn it.
Before the negotiations began, he had specifically warned Blake not to mention Samuel at the table.
Victor was sharp. If he learned Samuel had already arrived in Vagen but still refused to appear personally, he would immediately suspect that Samuel had gone to rescue the prisoner instead. That would seriously jeopardize Samuel’s plan.
But Finneas couldn’t explain things too clearly to Blake either. Blake wore every emotion on his face and was absurdly arrogant. He would expose Samuel’s intentions in seconds.
And Finneas ranked lower than him. He couldn’t order Blake around.
He let out a silent sigh.
Chapter 363 Negotiation
Sure enough, Victor’s eyes sharpened immediately, his wolf pupils narrowing. “Samuel? Are you saying Samuel is here? Where is he? Why isn’t he negotiating himself?”
Blake snorted coldly. “That’s right. Prince Vance arrived in Simonne Town days ago. He just doesn’t want to show himself, so he authorized me to negotiate is behalf. What I’m saying is exactly what he means. if you refuse these conditions, then negotiations are ovek Do whatever you want.”
“This is Prince Vance’s decision,” Blake emphasized again.
Something inside Victor’s mind snapped taut instantly.
He shot to his feet and barked an order, “Move! We’re heading back! Right now!”
Finneas lunged forward and blocked his path. “Marshal Wilde, don’t rush off. We can talk this through. Do you really need Simonne Town that badly?”
Victor glared at him coldly. “Move.”
Finneas plastered on a smile, his tone unbelievably soft. “Marshal Wilde, come on, let’s talk this through. Why the hurry? You want Simonne Town, right? Fine, we can discuss it. Let’s continue.”
Watching Finneas suddenly act so submissive, Blake immediately grew suspicious.
He was the one leading the negotiations. He had already declared them over, so why was Finneas trying to stop Victor?
Blake had only become commander after Vagen was reclaimed, and many of the officers beneath him already looked down on him. If he couldn’t even control the negotiations, then what authority did he still have left as
marshal?
He barked sharply, “Get back here!”
Then he turned toward Victor, voice stiff and uncompromising. “You people have no sincerity, so negotiations end here. If you still want to talk, then accept my conditions.”
Victor glanced back at Blake after hearing that. The impatience all over Blake’s face didn’t look like the confidence of someone holding the upper hand.
Had he overthought things? Had Samuel not gone to rescue the prisoner?
But Victor didn’t dare relax his guard.
