Rowan confirmed the bleeding had stopped, but she would need a long period of rest to
recover.
When Lillian woke, she gripped Laila’s hand and used the last of her strength to whisper, “Laila, take me away.”
“Don’t be silly. You need to rest. Where could you go like this?” Ruby said, wiping her tears.
But Laila had already stepped outside to ask Rowan, “Can she be moved now?”
“Tomorrow,” Rowan replied. “I’ll give her medication tonight. Once she’s had three doses, she can be carried out. Find somewhere quiet for her to recover. If she stays here, she’ll die.”
“She can’t leave. Laila, don’t go along with this. This is her home. Where would she even go?” Ruby rushed out to stop her.
Laila didn’t even look at her. She turned to Bex and Rockie. “Go get everything ready. Pack her things, and let Luna Evelyn know Lillian will be ending the mate bond with Shawn.”
Ruby’s face changed instantly. “Laila, what-”
“Mrs. Whitmore.” Laila cut her off coldly, her Alpha presence crashing down without restraint. “Do you have a problem with that?”
Ruby’s throat tightened as if invisible fingers had wrapped around it. She couldn’t get a single word out.
She had a sudden, instinctive fear that if she spoke against Laila, her throat might be torn open the next second.
She shut her mouth and turned to Titus.
Titus’s face was filled with fury. He was still her father, and he wasn’t dead yet. Since when did someone else get to decide his daughter’s fate?
He roared, “Laila! Since when do you get to make decisions for my daughter? Lillian and Shawn are bound under the Moon Goddess! Let me be clear. As long as I’m here, no one is taking her away!”

Before his words had even settled, a flash of purple crossed the room as Samuel strode in.
He had heard what happened at Thunder Pack and came immediately.
His
gaze swept the room before landing on Titus.
“Mr. Whitmore.”
His voice wasn’t loud, but it carried weight, like a mountain pressing down.
The presence of a top-tier Alpha filled the room instantly. It wasn’t a request or a negotiation. It was a command.
Titus’s knees almost buckled on instinct.
Samuel took a step forward, closing the distance, not walking so much as advancing. Like an Alpha entering another Alpha’s territory, completely certain of his dominance.
“What Laila says is what I say,” he said, meeting Titus’s eyes, each word deliberate. “Her decision is mine. If anyone has a problem, take it up with me.”
He didn’t raise his voice. He didn’t shout. There was even the faintest hint of a smile on his lips.
But beneath it was absolute authority, unquestionable and unyielding.
Titus’s lips moved, but no words came out.
His wolf spirit had already shrunk back inside him. It was the most primal instinct of a lesser Alpha in the presence of a stronger one.
Samuel withdrew his gaze and walked to Laila’s side, his voice softening. “Am I too late?”
Laila shook her head. “Right on time.”
“How is she? The baby… Is it really gone?”
it’s
“It’s gone. She almost died too. If Dr. Sagewood hadn’t made it, she wouldn’t have survived. She’ll need at least a year or two to recover. She’s unconscious now. When she wakes up… going to be hard for her.”
Samuel let out a quiet sigh. “She carried that child for so long. It’s going to hurt.”
Laila’s face had gone pale. “She almost lost her life. Samuel, Shawn can’t get away with this. He should be locked up for years.”
