Meanwhile, Aiden’s car came to stop in front of the hospital, James and Aiden both inside the car. They alighted the car immediately and walked inside the hospital in a rush. They had left this morning after they were called for an emergency only to receive a call now that Ethan was poisoned and had been admitted in the hospital.
They rushed inside the hospital and had asked a nurse the ward Ethan was admitted in and she had told them.
They rushed toward the ward and had met Arthur sitting on the hair outside the ward looking tired.
“Arthur,” Aiden called, and the little boy raised his head and glared at James and Aiden.
“Alpha Aiden,” he muttered and moved toward them. Aiden crouched to his level and pulled him up immediately, drawing him into a warm embrace.
“Ethan is still inside the ward, my mommy is attending to him,” Arthur muttered and Aiden nodded, taking a deep breath, his eyes flicking to the door. He stroked Arthur’s hair gently, and in no time the child’s eyes fluttered shut, drifting into sleep from exhaustion.
James placed a steadying hand on Aiden’s shoulder, grounding him. Aiden nodded faintly, jaw tight.
Just then Sofia approached the ward and saw Aiden and James standing at the door. Aiden held Arthur in his arms while the boy slept peacefully.
Her heartbeat spiked, fear clawing at her chest. If Aiden learned the truth, she was finished. She would lose everything including her son, her place, her name. Dante’s words rang in her head. I’ll fix it. He always fixed it. She clung to that hope now, but she needed to act fast, to twist the story to her favor before Amelia emerged.
Taking a deep breath, she quickened her steps toward Aiden.
“Aiden,” she called, tears streaming freely down her cheeks.
Aiden turned sharply, handing Arthur over to James, who accepted the sleeping boy carefully in his arms.
“What happened to my son? How come he was poisoned? Who the fuck poisoned him?” Aiden’s voice cracked with fury, his fist clenched, his jaw stone-hard. His pain radiated like fire, the storm inside him barely contained.
“I have no idea…” Sofia began, her voice trembling. “I was in the kitchen, trying to prepare something for him before school. But then… I saw him already eating the food Amelia prepared, and the next moment he started coughing blood…”
Aiden froze, the words sinking in like venom. If he’d heard right Sofia was trying to say Amelia had poisoned Ethan. His chest tightened, anger battling disbelief.
He glanced at James, whose face remained unreadable.
“What do you mean, Sofia?” Aiden demanded, his tone sharp as blade.
“I mean Amelia poisoned my son. She tried to kill him.”
“No,” Aiden shook his head, voice rising. “She wouldn’t do that.”
this pack house, even burned her own home to the ground else for the death of her daughter!” Tears streamed faster,
Sofia’s voice cracked, her sobs loud. “Last night she framed me,cused me of trying to kill her. When that failed, today she tried to kill my son. Don’t you see? She manipulated her way in just to play the victim. She’s trying to pin everything on someor her voice breaking.
Aiden growled low, fighting the rage flooding him. “No, Sofia. You must be overthinking this… Amelia would not…”

“Again with the defending scheme!” Sofia screamed, her grief ra. “My son is in there dying because of her. Coughing blood. just like Eva did before she died! She did this!”
Aiden’s throat tightened, words lost on his tongue.
At that moment, the door to the ward creaked open. Cassia stepped out, her shoulders heavy, exhaustion etched on her face. Another female doctor followed behind her.
Her gaze collided with Sofia’s, blazing with hatred, before shifting to Aiden, whose eyes were clouded with confusion and disappointment. Her chest ached at the sight, but she turned away, focusing instead on James.
James stood with Arthur in his arms, the boy’s head nestled against his chest. Cassia moved toward them.
“Thank you,” she whispered, reaching to take her son.
James shook his head gently. “It’s fine. I’ll take him to your office you don’t want to wake him.”
Cassia hesitated, then nodded. Together, she and James walked down the hall, Arthur safe in his arms.
Sofia exhaled in relief. Cassia hadn’t spoken a word of accusation in front of Aiden but her silence was dangerous, like a blade waiting for the right moment to strike.
Aiden’s
gaze never left Cassia as she walked away, his eyes locked on her retreating figure. The sight made Sofia’s blood boil, jealousy scorching through her veins.
“Doctor, how’s my son?” Sofia asked, her voice sharp, dragging Alden’s attention back.
The doctor stepped closer, pulling off her gloves. Her expression was calm but grave, the weight of her words already darkening the air.
“We’ve managed to stabilize him for now,” she began, voice steady. “But listen carefully…your son has ingested the Hemovore Toxin. It’s rare, and it’s deadly. They call it the Blood Eater because it destroys red blood cells from the inside out. That’s why he collapsed, and that’s why he’s coughing blood and that’s why his body is so weak. His blood is being eaten away.”
Sofia gasped, hands flying to her mouth, trembling. “God… is he going to die?”
The doctor shook her head firmly. “Not if we act quickly. With Doctor Cassia’s help, we slowed the poison enough to keep him alive. But the toxin has already ravaged his blood. He no longer has enough red blood cells to carry oxygen. That’s why he looks pale. he’s fading.”
Her voice softened, but her eyes burned with urgency.
“He needs a transfusion. Fresh blood to replace what the poison destroyed. Without it, his organs will shut down within hours.”
Aiden’s voice cracked. “And after the transfusion? Will he recove?”
The doctor exhaled. “With a transfusion, yes. He’ll still need clo monitoring and once he’s stable, we would give him an antidote, But the transfusion is the line between life and death right now.”
Her gaze swept between them, her words final, heavy.
“I’ll be honest. Time is not on our side. If you consent, we’ll prepare the blood immediately. And you should speak with Doctor Cassia…she specializes in cases like this. She’ll guide you he would be the one in charge of his treatment and everything!”
