“I’ll be honest with you: time is not on our side. If you consent, we’ll prepare the blood immediately, and you should also speak with Doctor Cassia, she has a specialty in cases like this. She will tell you what to do…” the doctor said, her tone urgent yet calm.
Aiden’s chest heaved as he stepped forward, eyes burning with determination.
“About the blood transfusion, take mine. I’m his father. Use my mood.”
The doctor looked at him, then down at the chart in her hands. “We’ll need to run a quick compatibility test. If you’re a match, we can start immediately. That would be the fastest way!
“I’m a match. I have to be. I’m his father,” Aiden pressed, his voice raw and almost breaking.
The doctor gave a small, reassuring smile. “Of course, Alpha Aiden.”
Her words should have been a relief, but as she turned, her eyes caught Sofia’s expression. Sofia stood stiff, her fists clenched at her sides, her face pale but her heart hammering wildly.
She couldn’t let Aiden go through with it. If he gave his blood to Ethan, the truth would come out. The moment the tests showed he wasn’t a match, everything she had built would collapse around her. Her lies. Her marriage. Her power. And her son’s very identity.
Before Aiden could take another step, Sofia’s voice lashed through the hall like a whip.
“No.”
The doctor froze, blinking. Aiden turned sharply to her, shock fishing across his face.
Sofia stood rigid, her arms hugging herself as if she were holding her body together. Crocodile tears streamed down her face, but her eyes burned with desperate fire.
“You will not put your blood into my son.” Her voice trembled, but her words rang out clear. “Not after everything. Not after you keep choosing Amelia, defending her, protecting her while I’m the one who has stood by you all these years.”
Aiden’s jaw tightened, his fists curling. His voice was steel. “He’s my child too. If this is what saves him, I’ll do it, whether you like it or not.”
Sofia’s throat bobbed, her lips quivering. But she shook her head violently, her words tumbling out like venom.
“No! We will find a donor…someone else, anyone else…..but not you. I will not allow it.”
The doctor stepped forward, her tone sharp and unyielding. “Enough. This is not the time for quarrels. Your son’s life hangs by a thread. If we delay, no donor in the world will matter.”
The hallway went silent. Aiden’s fury crackled in the air, but Sof doubled down, her voice cutting through the tension.
“Then find someone. Anyone. But not him.” Her chin trembled she hissed the final words. “I’d rather my son die with clean blood than live with the blood of a father who always chooses someone else over him.”
The words hit like a slap. Aiden’s face darkened, confusion and art flashing in his eyes. But he didn’t argue, he wouldn’t risk Ethan’s life by wasting precious seconds arguing with Sofia.
The doctor’s expression hardened. “Very well. We’ll call the registry and begin searching for a donor immediately. But I warn you…every moment we wait makes this more dangerous.”
The warning echoed in Sofia’s ears, but she didn’t care. All that attered was stopping Aiden. If he gave his blood, the truth

would unravel. She forced her lips into a trembling frown and clutched her chest as the doctor walked away. Then, with calculated grace, she replaced her mask of fear with a mother’s grief and stepped inside the ward to sit by Ethan’s bed.
Aiden’s gaze lingered on the door long after Sofia disappeared inside. His fists tightened until his knuckles turned white. He couldn’t understand her refusal. But deep down, something gnawed at him…a whisper that something wasn’t right.
Shaking the thought away, he strode after the doctor.
“Mrs. Miranda,” Aiden called.
The doctor paused, turning toward him with furrowed brows. “Alpha Aiden?”
He hesitated for a moment, then his voice dropped low, firm with resolve.
“I know my wife said she didn’t want me to give Ethan my blood. But I insist. He’s my son, and it’s my responsibility to save him. Run the test. Do the transfusion. She doesn’t need to know
The doctor studied him for a long moment, her eyes weighing the desperation in his tone. Finally, she nodded.
“If you say so. Come with me…..we’ll begin immediately.”
Aiden exhaled, relief and determination washing through him. He followed her down the hallway, each step echoing with the weight of his choice.
Inside the ward, Sofia sat beside Ethan’s bed, staring at the wires and machines keeping him alive. Her tears were endless. dripping onto her clasped hands. Guilt gnawed at her, a relentless voice whispering that this was karma.
It should have been Arthur. That food had been meant for him. But her son….the child she had sworn to protect had disobeyed, and now he was paying the price.
Her mind replayed Amelia’s furious words, a child for a child. Sofia clenched her fists, fury burning in her veins. She would make Amelia pay for this and make her life hell until she begged for death.
But then the doctor’s words echoed in her memory. Amelia was the one in charge of Ethan’s case. For a fleeting moment. Sofia’s chest tightened in fear. What if Amelia refused to treat him?
But no. She shook her head. Amelia was too soft, too noble. She wouldn’t let a child die…not even Sofia’s. And that weakness was something Sofia could always count on.
Meanwhile, Aiden walked out of the lab where his blood sample had been drawn. The nurse assured him they would test for compatibility immediately.
Still, doubt gnawed at him. Why did it need testing at all? He was Ethan’s father. That should have been enough.
He sighed, rubbing a hand over his face as he stepped out into the hallway. But the moment he looked up, he froze.
His father stood there, waiting. Fury was etched deep into his features, his fists clenched tight at his sides, eyes burning into Aiden like fire.
