The moment Aiden walked out, he stared down the hallway, his chest rising and falling, his pulse pounding. Before he realized it, his feet carried him toward Cassia’s office. His wolf was restless, pulling him forward, demanding he face her.
He stopped at her door, staring at it as if it were a wall between them. His hand hovered near the knob, uncertainty gnawing at him. Would she slam the door in his face? Would she hate him more than she already did?
“Fuck it. I don’t care what she thinks. I just need to speak with her!” he hissed under his breath, shoving the door open without knocking.
Inside, Cassia was mid-conversation on the phone. Her head snapped up at the sound of the door, and her eyes widened when she saw him. She straightened, brows knitting in both surprise and irritation.
“Aiden,” she said, his name leaving her lips like a question.
He didn’t answer. His gaze cut to her desk, where she was shoving her things into a bag, papers, files, her pen, all crammed in as though she couldn’t leave fast enough. She ended the call.
“Are you leaving already?” His voice came low, controlled but edged with steel. “I thought you were in charge of Ethan’s treatment.”
Cassia exhaled sharply, almost scoffing. She lifted her chin, her expression a mask of composure, but her eyes burned.
“There are dozens of doctors in this hospital who can treat him. can’t take his case,” she said, her voice tight, each word dragged from a wound that hadn’t healed. “Knowing it should have been my son in that bed….knowing he ate the poisoned food meant for Arthur… I can’t do it, Aiden. I won’t.”
Her eyes flickered toward Arthur, who lay asleep on the couch, his small chest rising and falling peacefully. He was the only reason she had touched Ethan at all. Arthur had begged her, his innocent voice pleading for Ethan’s life, and Cassia couldn’t deny her child. Otherwise, she would have let Ethan slip away, just so Sofia could taste the same agony that was tearing her
apart.
Aiden’s jaw tightened. His hands fisted at his sides. “Are you saying Sofia poisoned Eva and now tried to poison Arthur too? That’s a massive accusation. And because of that, you called the Blood Watch on her?” His voice cracked with disbelief. “Do you know what they’ll do to her? They’ll torture her, break her, force confessions out of her, even for crimes she didn’t commit.”
Cassia’s head snapped toward him, her fists clenching, her body trembling with rage she could barely contain.
“Are you seriously saying this right now?” Her voice shook like a torm barely held back.
“She killed my daughter. Our daughter.” The words ripped from her throat, raw and jagged. Her teeth ground together as she tried not to wake Arthur with her rage. “She killed Eva, Aide And here you are worried about what the Blood Watch will do to her?” Her voice broke, and tears shone in her eyes. “I disgusted. I wonder what I ever saw in you why I ever chose you as my mate, why I married you. If you’re so in love with my daughter’s murderer, then by all means, go save her.”
Her voice rose, no longer restrained. “You sheltered her. You made her Luna. You let her crawl back into our lives while my daughter was rotting in the ground. That makes you no different from her. You both killed Eva. You killed Eva. Don’t you dare forget that.”
“Amelia, I…”
“Don’t.” Her voice was like a blade, sharp and final. She swiped her tears but they kept coming “Just leave. Her trial begins in two hours. She’ll stand before the council, including you, and he will confess. She will take her punishment. My daughter will have justice.”
Her voice dropped to a broken whisper. “But as for you… keep itarved into your heart that you tailed Eva,”

She moved to the door, yanked it open, and pointed outside. “Get out.”

But Aiden didn’t move. He stood frozen, her words slicing him apart. He could feel the weight of her grief pressing down on him, choking him. He believed her, every word…but one part of him resisted.
Sofia, poison Eva? How? She hadn’t even been in the house. Unless…. unless she had someone else do it. He shook his head. Sofia was a storm of sharp words and drama, but a killer? Fragile Sofia? It didn’t fit. And yet… Amelia’s eyes, burning with a pain deeper than any lie, made him question everything.
“Get out, Aiden!” she snapped again, her voice shattering with fury and grief.
He sighed, heavy and broken. His gaze flickered to Arthur asleep on the couch, innocent and untouched by the tension raging between them. Then his eyes met Cassia’s, locking for a moment that felt endless. Something raw and unspoken passed between them, pulling at him in ways he couldn’t understand.
Then he turned and walked out, wordless.
Cassia slammed the door shut behind him, leaning against it, he chest heaving. She squeezed her eyes shut, dragging in a shaky breath. Her anger was a living, breathing thing inside her, nd it whispered only one name…..Sofia.
This wasn’t over. The Blood Watch was only the beginning. Cassin swore she would break Sofia piece by piece, until she felt every ounce of the torment she had inflicted.
Wiping her tears with the back of her hand, she crossed to her desk and shoved the last of her things into her bag. That was when a knock came at the door.
Her teeth clenched, rage flaring again. She thought it was Aiden refusing to leave her alone. The knock came a second time, firmer. Snapping, she stormed toward the door and yanked it open, ready to unleash her fury.
But it wasn’t Aiden.
“Nurse Mira?” Cassia blinked in surprise as the young nurse stood there, clutching a file to her chest.
“Doctor Cassia,” Mira said softly, with a small, hesitant smile.
Cassia sighed and stepped aside, allowing her in.
“I’m sorry to disturb you,” Mira began, “but I was told you’re in charge of Ethan Miller’s case. The Alpha submitted his blood for transfusion and…”
Cassia cut her off, voice cold. “Then ask Doctor Castillo to handle it. I can’t…”
“Ma’am,” Mira interrupted quickly, her voice taut with urgency. “Doctor Castillo just left, and… we found something. Something unusual.”
Cassia stilled. The nurse’s face was pale, her eyes wide with unease. Whatever this was, it was something serious.
“What is it?” Cassia’s voice dropped, sharp as a knife.
Mira swallowed hard. “Ethan’s blood and the Alpha’s… they didn match. It’s rare, considering he’s supposed to be the father.”
The words didn’t shock Cassia. She froze, yes, but not in surprise more in grim confirmation Deep down, she had always suspected. Ethan was not Aiden’s son especially after she heard solia’s conversation with Dante the other day.
“What do you want me to do now, Doctor?” Mira asked, chutchit the file tighter.
Cassia’s eyes hardened, her voice steady and commanding. “Rua DNA test between them. Quietly. No one must know…not yet. This stays between us, understood?”

“And in the meantime,” Cassia continued, her tone clipped, “find another compatible donor for Ethan. The transfusion cannot wait.”
Mira nodded and hurried out, leaving Cassia alone with the truth weighing heavily in her hands.
