Meanwhile, in a vast chamber, the council had gathered. A long table stretched across the room, its polished surface catching the flickering light of torches mounted on the walls. Heavy chairs lined both sides, every Elder already seated. The air was thick, almost suffocating, with judgment and anticipation

James sat near the middle, Cassia beside him, her posture rigid, her face carved in cold calmness. Aiden sat at the far end, in the Alpha’s seat, his father, Alaric, beside him. Alaric’s gaze never left Cassia…sharp, venomous and unrelenting.

Aiden felt it. He clenched his jaw, trying to ignore it, but the weight of that glare was like fire boring into his skin. Finally, he muttered under his breath, low enough for only Alaric to hear.

“Can you stop staring at her like that?”

Alaric turned his head, his expression hard. “She’s the reason Sofa is rotting in the Blood Watch’s hands. Do you realize the kind of accusations she spat out? And you believe her? This is nothing but another one of her schemes….another attempt to cover her sins. She tried to kill your son. She killed her daughter And you let her get away with it.”

Aiden’s eyes flicked toward Cassia. Almost as if she sensed him, she turned. For a brief, charged moment, their gazes locked. Something familiar stirred in him. She looked away quickly, breaking the connection, but it was already too late. The current had passed between them.

Alaric scoffed, rolling his eyes, muttering something under his breath. Aiden ignored him, his jaw tightening, his eyes fixed on the heavy double doors at the end of the chamber.

The council sat in silence, their robes whispering as they shifted murmurs humming just below the surface. Cassia sat straighter, her expression unflinching. She looked calm, but beneath the calm was steel.

“Are you okay?” James leaned toward her, his voice low.

Cassia gave a small nod, her lips curving into the faintest of smiles, though her eyes never softened. She turned her glare to the other council members, who were whispering among themselves, some throwing daggers with their eyes in her direction.

And then-

The doors creaked open.

Two Blood Watch warriors dragged Sofia into the chamber. Three more followed close behind, shadows with blades. The sight of her silenced the room.

Her once-perfect hair clung to her sweaty face. Her lips were spl, bruises painted her arms in ugly purple marks. Silver cuffs bit into her wrists, leaving raw burns on her skin. The proud Luna mask was gone. What remained was a woman broken, dragged like prey into the lion’s den.

The Blood Watch forced her into the chair at the center of the chamber. The chains rattled as she struggled weakly, groaning, trying to keep her head lifted. Her eyes scanned the room in panic, and then they landed on Aiden.

Her lips trembled, tears glistening in her eyes as she mouthed silently, Please…. help me.

Aiden’s fists curled on the table. Every instinct in him screamed stand, to drag her away from this horror, to protect her. But he didn’t move. Not with Cassia sitting only a few chairs away, her presence like an anchor, binding him in place.

Cassia noticed. She saw Sofia’s desperate eyes fixed on Aiden, say the silent plea, and her gaze flickered to Aiden. Their eyes met for the briefest heartbeat. Aiden bit his lip, trapped between the two women..one who hated him, one who begged him. And for the first time, he realized how cornered he was.

“Speak,” one of the Elders commanded, his voice ringing through the chamber. “Tell us the truth, Sofia.” His eyes shifted to Cassia, a flash of contempt in them, as though daring her to be wrong.

Sofia’s voice came hoarse, cracked. “I’ve told you already. It was melia. She poisoned my son. She’s trying to frame me.”

Cassia’s fists clenched at her sides, her nails digging into her pals until her skin burned. Even after all this, even after torture, Sofia refused to break.

“See?” Alaric leaned toward Aiden, his voice sharp. “She’s said the truth. Tell them to let her go.”

But Aiden said nothing. His wolf growled within him, restless, furious. He couldn’t speak. He couldn’t move. Something inside him knew.

The commander of the Blood Watch stepped forward. In his hand was a vial filled with a bitter, viscous purple liquid… wolfsbane. The council murmured, some with approval, others with unease.

Without hesitation, the commander wrenched Sofia’s jaw open. She thrashed weakly, eyes wide with horror, as the liquid was forced down her throat.

Her scream ripped through the chamber.

It wasn’t just sound…it was agony itself. Her body convulsed violently, smoke curling from her lips as the wolfsbane burned through her veins. Her skin blistered, her breath came in broken gasps. Chains rattled as she writhed in the chair, the sound echoing like clashing steel.

“Tell the truth,” the commander growled, his voice low, final. “O you will drink again.”

Tears streamed down Sofia’s face, hot and endless. Her mask cracked. Her pride shattered. “Stop! Please! Please! I’ll talk!” Her sobs shook the chamber.

Her eyes darted again to Aiden, desperate, pleading. But this time he looked away, his jaw clenched, his face twisted with both fury and grief.

Amelia sat unmoving, her eyes as cold as stone.

And then Sofia broke.

“It was me!” she screamed, her voice raw, torn from her throat.” killed Eva! I poisoned her food! I tried to kill Amelia’s son! I sent men after her…I wanted her gone! I wanted Aiden back! That’s why… that’s why I did it!”

Gasps erupted around the table, Elders leaning forward, whispering furiously. The chamber buzzed with shock and disgust.

Alaric froze, his face pale, his eyes wide with denial. He shook his head, unwilling to believe.

The Blood Watch commander stepped back. Their work was done. They had peeled her to the bone, and now the truth was laid bare. Judgment belonged to the Alpha.

Aiden stared at her, silent, broken. His chest heaved, his fists trembling.

“Sofia, they forced you to say this, didn’t they?” Alaric’s voice rang desperate. He stood abruptly, facing her.

Sofia shook her head, bloodied tears running down her cheeks. No… it’s the truth.” Her gaze flickered to Amelia. Her lips curled into a bloody smile. “I was the one who set the house one. When I thought you died that night, Amelia. I felt joy. Sweet, intoxicating joy. And don’t think it ends here. Tell me…ho did it feel to lose your daughter to your own cooking? To have everyone think you killed her?”

Her words dripped like venom.

Cassia’s vision blurred red. Her veins bulged, her hands trembling with rage. Memories slammed into her… the sight of her little girl convulsing, choking, vomiting blood. Eva’s cries. Her lifeless eyes.

“You bitch!” Cassia roared. She surged to her feet, storming across the chamber. Her fist connected with Sofia’s face in a

Sofia’s head snapped back, blood spurting from her lip, but she laughed. Laughed like a madwoman. “Is that all you’ve got?” she taunted, her voice dripping with madness.

Cassia struck her again, harder, her knuckles splitting. Sofia spat blood, grinning, and laughing like a demon unleashed.

James rushed forward, seizing Cassia’s arm before she could land another blow. “Enough!” he hissed, holding her back.

But the chamber was already chaos.

Aiden’s wolf surged inside him, clawing to be freed. His fists shook violently as he rose from his seat, a roar tearing from his chest. “I’ll kill her!”

He charged, but Alaric sprang up, grabbing him, holding him back with all his strength.

“Let me go!” Aiden’s voice shook the walls. His eyes burned, his chest heaving. “Let me end her!”

“No!” Alaric snarled, straining to hold his son. “She’s still the mother of your boy! Ethan is in that hospital bed, clinging to life. When he wakes, he’ll call for her. You can’t kill her…”

Aiden’s roar echoed through the chamber, animalistic, filled with a grief too sharp to contain. His wolf thrashed inside, begging for blood. But Alaric dragged him back, step by step, forcing him out of the chamber.

And Sofia…

She slumped in her chair, chains rattling weakly. The taste of wolfsbane still burned her tongue. Her lies had been ripped away. The truth bled from her lips.

Tears stung her eyes, hot, unstoppable. For the first time, the walls of her lies crumbled.

She knew at this moment she was ruined.
