My Luna Became An Alpha After I Rejected Her novel Chapter 116

Chapter 116

Did you really ask him to stay because of Arthur, or because of you? A tiny voice whispered in Cassia’s mind. She clenched her eyes shut, forcing the thought out, and slowly drifted into sleep.

Morning came swiftly. Cassia and Aiden lay side by side with Arthur nestled safely in the middle. They looked almost like a perfect family, peaceful, unbothered, whole. The morning sun filtered through the window, brightening the room with soft light.

Arthur’s eyes fluttered open. He rubbed them lazily and glanced to his sides, finding both his mother and Alpha Aiden still fast asleep. His lips curled into a small smile. Carefully, he slipped out of bed, not wanting to disturb them, and padded quietly downstairs.

In the kitchen, his stomach gave a little growl. He didn’t want to wake his mom, so he scanned the counter until he spotted a few apples. He washed one, then carried it to the dining room and sat down.

As he chewed thoughtfully, his mind wandered to the secret he shared with James. The DNA test. He couldn’t wait for the results to prove what he already felt deep in his bones….that Aide was his father. A wide grin spread across his face as he bit into the apple again.

Upstairs, Cassia stirred in her sleep. Without realizing, she had shifted closer to Aiden. A soft hum escaped her lips as she snuggled into what she thought was the pillow, her head settling against the warmth of his chest.

Aiden was awake. His eyes burned into her as she sighed and curled into him like old times. His arm moved almost instinctively, wrapping around her waist, holding her like he once did every night.

He drank in her face, the curve of her lips, the way her lashes brushed her cheeks, the serene expression she wore when at peace. Memories swarmed him: nights when she used to fall asleep exactly like this, in his arms, back when his life still held light and love. His chest ached at how much he had destroyed everything.

His fingers threaded gently through her hair. Gods, how he missed its softness. How he missed her. This one stolen moment brought him a kind of peace he hadn’t felt in years, as though time had rewound, and all his mistakes could still be undone.

Cassia groaned softly as sunlight hit her face. She shifted, relishing the comfort she felt until her hand brushed against something hard and warm. A chest. Her eyes snapped open.

Blinking twice, she lifted her gaze and froze. Aiden was staring right back at her. Realization crashed into her…she had slept in his arms.

Her breath hitched. With a gasp, she jerked away from him and scrambled off the bed. Her hands flew to her body, checking quickly. Clothes intact. Relief. Then fury.

“How the hell did I end up on your chest? And why the fuck are we in the same bed? You’re naked, Aiden!” she exploded. voice sharp and trembling.

Aiden raised a brow, holding her gaze calmly. “Arthur asked me to sleep beside him after his nightmare.” he replied evenly.

As he sat up, Cassia noticed a smear of wetness on his chest. Her heeks flamed when realization struck…she had drooled on him. Covering her mouth, she turned crimson with embarrassment.

Arthur. She suddenly remembered. Her son had begged them both to stay. But her heart lurched when she realized he wasn’t in the room.

“Where’s Arthur?” she demanded, panic clawing at her chest.

“I-”

She didn’t let him finish. Bolting, she checked the bathroom, then rushed downstairs. Relief washed over her when she found Arthur at the dining table, happily munching on his apple

“Arthur,” she breathed out, crouching in front of him.

“Yes. And… what was he even doing here so late last night? And shirtless?” He gave her a sly grin.

“Arthur!” she snapped, glaring at him, but he only laughed.

“It was raining. I couldn’t just send him away,” she muttered.

Arthur hummed, clearly unconvinced, and took another bite of his apple.

“I know what you’re thinking, Arthur. You’d better stop!” Cassia warned, then lunged at him.

Arthur squealed with laughter as he darted away, his small feet carrying him around the dining table. Cassia chased after him, the two of them laughing until she finally caught him, ruffling his hair playfully.

Upstairs, Aiden reappeared, now dressed in his suit. He stopped at the stairs, silently watching the scene below. Mother and son, laughing together, carefree. The sight pierced through him jealousy twisting in his gut.

That should have been his place. His family. His son. But fate had been cruel, and his own mistakes had stolen it all away.

And for the first time, Aiden silently admitted it…he wanted desperately for Arthur to be his.
