My Luna Became An Alpha After I Rejected Her novel Chapter 117

Chapter 117

The laughter in the dining room faded when both mother and son finally noticed Aiden standing at the stairs. Cassia’s smile slipped away in an instant, leaving only Arthur’s grin untouched

Cassia’s eyes locked on Aiden’s, and for a fleeting second, time froze. Images of waking up in his arms, of her head against his bare chest, stormed her memory. Heat prickled down her spine, anger tangled with something else…something she refused to name.

“Alpha Aiden, join us for breakfast!” Arthur chirped, his boyish enthusiasm cutting through the tension.

Aiden’s lips tugged upward. He descended the stairs, his steps unhurried but heavy with presence. “I wish I could, Arthur,” he said softly. “But I have to get to the hospital. Ethan’s blood transfusion is today, and I need to be there.”

Cassia’s chest tightened. Guilt stabbed at her, sharp and cruel. She could see the worry written in the creases of his face, the way his voice carried the weight of a father’s fear. And yet he still didn’t know the truth. The truth that would shatter him. Better he never found out.

“You’ll be at the hospital, won’t you?” His gaze flickered to her, desperate. “You’ll be taking over Ethan’s case?”

Cassia froze. Her lips pressed together. Every part of her wanted to say no, to run, to shield herself from this trap. But Aiden’s eyes were pleading, and Arthur’s hopeful stare cut right through her resistance.

“Please,” Aiden whispered. One word, but it stripped her defenses.

Her shoulders slumped. “Fine. I’ll take over his case.”

Relief washed across his face. He gave a small, grateful smile.

“I’ll be on my way, then.” He bent toward Arthur, curling his fist. Arthur mirrored him, their knuckles knocking together in a playful punch. Both smiled, though Arthur’s was brighter.

When Aiden turned back to Cassia, his gaze lingered. “I’ll be expecting you.”

She said nothing. Just stood there, lips pressed tight, eyes hard, until he finally stepped outside. The door clicked shut behind him.

Cassia let out a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding and turned to her son. “Come on, let’s prepare breakfast,” she muttered, taking Arthur’s hand as they moved into the kitchen.

Velaris Pack

In Velaris, Damien sat at the long dining table, sleeves rolled up as he helped the maids set breakfast. The clatter of dishes filled the quiet room until Beta Kael entered, being wheeled in Nurse Zelda.

“I’ll take it from here,” Damien said, pushing the chair himself. s tone carried an unusual softness. Zelda nodded and slipped out, leaving father and son in the charged silence.

“How was your night, Dad?” Damien asked as he guided Kael closer to the table.

Kael studied his son, suspicion shadowing his eyes. Since their argument, Damien had kept his distance. And now this sudden kindness? Kael’s gut told him it wasn’t without reason.

Moments later, Seraphina swept in, her energy brighter than it had been in weeks. “Mmm, what’s that smell? Don’t tell me… it’s my favorite!” She slid into a chair, her grin wide.

Damien chuckled. “You guessed right.”

“Oh, thank you,” she said, eagerly serving herself.

A small smile tugged at his lips as he watched her eat. The medication he’d placed her on was working; she already looked stronger. For that, at least, he felt relief.

He turned to his father, placing a plate of food in front of him. at Kael didn’t touch it. His eyes lingered on the meal with quiet defiance.

“Dad?” Damien prompted.

Kael said nothing until Seraphina called his name. His voice, when it came, was flat. “It’s fine. He can leave whenever he wants. Even today if he wishes. If it makes him happy.”

Seraphina gave him a faint smile, mistaking the venom for sorry. “I know you’ll miss him, Kael. I miss Cassia too. But they’re adults. Let them be happy.” Her phone rang, interrupting her. She excused herself, leaving father and son alone.

The moment she was gone, Damien’s expression darkened. “I’m leaving tomorrow. And know this…every move you make around Seraphina will be watched. If you so much as touch a ha on her head, you’ll answer to me.”

Kael’s eyes flared. “Are you threatening me, Damien? I’m your father!”

“It’s not a threat. It’s a warning.”

Kael leaned forward, his tone venomous. “You don’t see it, do you? These women… they’ve cast their spell over you. Especially Amelia. That witch has you in chains. Even when Cast was alive, you weren’t this obsessed. But Amelia…you’re mad for her.”

Damien’s jaw clenched. “You’re right. I’m mad for her. I love her And it feels good to be consumed by it. You wouldn’t understand. Your heart’s too full of hate to ever know what love feels like.”

“Don’t you dare lecture me,” Kael snapped. “I knew love long before you were born. And I’ll tell you this… the very love you worship will destroy you. Mark my words, Damien. Your obsession with Amelia will ruin you. It will turn you into the villain you swore you’d never become.”

The words hit like acid, but Damien’s glare never wavered. He opened his mouth to retort, but the sound of footsteps drew his attention. Seraphina returned, smiling softly as she took her seat.

“Does Cassia know you’re coming tomorrow?” she asked.

“No,” Damien replied, his lips curving into a secretive smile. “I want it to be a surprise.”
