Cassia moved quietly around the dining room, clearing plates from the table. Arthur was already tucked into bed, sleeping peacefully, leaving her alone with the silence..
Her hands paused mid-motion, a dish clutched against her chest Memories of today’s chaos crashed over her…her wolf awokening, Sofia’s escape, the brutal fight with Dante. Slowly, she sank into a chair, her body heavy, her mind spinning.
She remembered the moment her wolf surged forward. The fire in her veins, her eyes glowing red, claws and fangs extending as if something ancient had awakened inside her. The sheer force of it terrified her. The strength of a true Alpha pulsed through her body.
But that wasn’t possible.
She wasn’t Alpha-blood. She was the daughter of a Beta, adopted by Seraphina. And yet, when her wolf returned, she carried the power of an Alpha…something she could neither explain nor deny.
Her fingers dug into her hair as she exhaled shakily. Nothing made sense anymore.
Her thoughts shifted, unbidden, to Aiden. The theatre room. His body bleeding out. The moment she thought he was dying. and the kiss…. his kiss that changed everything.
She could have let him die. She should have. He had hurt her, abandoned her, rejected her when she needed him most. She told herself she hated him, repeated it like a mantra. And yet… when he was slipping away, she had begged him to live. She had felt her wolf roar awake the moment his lips touched hers.
What was happening to her? Why did his touch ignite a fire that burned hotter than when they were married? Her heart still betrayed her, beating for him when she wanted nothing more than to forget.
She forced herself up, shaking her head as if she could throw him out of her thoughts. She carried the dishes into the kitchen, stacking them by the sink with trembling hands.
Just as she turned back toward the dining room, her phone rang
Cassia’s heart lifted when she saw the name flashing on the screen.
“Mom.” Her voice cracked as she answered, her eyes softening.
“Oh, my sweetheart!” Seraphina’s voice was full of warmth and lenging. “I’ve missed you so much. How have you been?”
Cassia blinked hard, tears stinging her eyes. “I’ve missed you to Mom. I wish you were here…” She sank back into the chair. her shoulders slumping as if Seraphina’s voice alone unraveled er defenses.
Seraphina went quiet, picking up instantly on the strain in Cassis tone. “What’s wrong, sweetheart? Where’s Arthur?”
“He’s asleep. And I’m fine…” Cassia forced a smile, but the lie ran hollow. Seraphina had known her long enough to hear the truth in her silence.
“Cassia.” Her mother’s voice firmed. “Are you going to tell me what’s really going on?”
Cassia’s throat tightened. Where could she even start? She hadntold Seraphina about moving back into Aiden’s house atter the fire. She hadn’t told her about Aiden at all. Her mother desped him for what he’d done. it she knew, she would only be furious.
“Mom… a lot happened. I don’t know where to start,” she whispered.
“You can tell me anything,” Seraphina said gently. “Start whereve your heart needs to.”

Chapter 132
Cassia bit her lip, tears spilling. She took a shaky breath, deciding to confess at least part of the truth.
“I… regained my wolf,” she said at last.
On the other end, Seraphina gasped. Cassia could almost feel he mother’s joy radiating through the line.

“Oh, Moon Goddess! My darling, I knew she’d return to you. I knew you’d be whole again.” Her voice was trembling with happiness. But as Cassia stayed silent, her mother’s joy dimmed. You don’t sound happy. Why?”
Cassia swallowed hard. “It’s the way I got her back…”
“What do you mean? How did you get it back?”
Her chest tightened as she finally said it. “Through Aiden’s kiss.”
Silence.
“What?” Seraphina’s voice cracked, the smile fading instantly. “Cassia… are you two-?”
“No! No, Mom,” Cassia cut in quickly. “It wasn’t like that. He kissed me. I didn’t… I didn’t kiss him back. But after, my wolf came alive.”
On the other end, Seraphina whispered so softly Cassia barely caught it. “The one who broke you would be the one to fix you…”
“Mom?” Cassia called, snapping her out of her daze.
Her mother’s voice sharpened. “Do you love him?”
The question rooted Cassia to the chair. Her lips parted, but nothing came out at first. Finally, she whispered. “I don’t know…”
But her tone gave her away.
Seraphina closed her eyes, her hand running through her hair as worry pressed down on her. “Are you planning to get back with him?”
Cassia’s jaw clenched. “What? No. He hurt me, Mom. He rejected me, abandoned me when I needed him most. I’m not going back. The kiss, my wolf awakening…none of it changes what he did. I still hate him.” Tears streaked her cheeks, though her words wavered.
Seraphina sighed, relief and sadness mingling. “Good. I’m glad you remember that.”
She hesitated. There was something else she needed to tell her daughter. Damien was returning to Red Moon Pack in the morning. He had wanted it to be a surprise, but after hearing Cassia’s turmoil, Seraphina knew she had to prepare her. Especially now, with Cassia’s wolf restored.
“Cassia, there’s something you need to know…”
Cassia wiped at her tears, brows furrowing. “What is it?”
“It’s Damien. He-”
The sound of an engine rumbled through the compound outsid, cutting her off. Cassia froze, her blood running cold. She knew that car. The same one from yesterday
Aiden’s.
Her breath caught. What was he doing here? He was supposed to be in the hospital.
