Her heart thundered. If she stepped back now, she might save herself. If she didn’t, she’d fall into him completely.
And then-he leaned closer.
Her palm slid over his bare chest to steady him, and she froze. His skin burned under her touch, muscles trembling with the strain of holding himself upright. Instead of pulling back, her body betrayed her. Her breath mingled with his, warm and shallow, and before she realized it, she was leaning closer, drawn to him like a moth to flame.
His eyes darkened, lips hovering a heartbeat away from hers, and the world seemed to still, caught on the edge of something forbidden and devastating.
She should’ve stepped back. She didn’t. She wanted this man in ways she shouldn’t.
“Amelia,” his voice was a hoarse whisper, “I’m going to die of blood loss if you don’t help me…”
The plea snapped her back to reality. She blinked, breath unsteady, and forced herself to nod.
Dragging the first-aid kit closer, she tore through it with trembling hands. Antiseptic, gauze, tweezers. Her chest rose and fell too quickly, the heat of him still crawling over her skin as she soaked the cloth and pressed it against the jagged wound on his side.
He groaned low in his throat, the sound rough and primal, and his hand shot out, gripping the edge of the table until his knuckles turned white. The fire in the room thickened, every brush of her fingers against his flesh sending a bolt of something dangerous between them.
The bleeding wouldn’t stop. Her hands worked furiously…press, clean, wrap, press again but crimson seeped through the gauze, warm and sticky against her skin. She bit her lip, panic flashing in her eyes as she raised her head.
“You’re not healing at all…” she whispered, voice strained.
“Yes,” he rasped, eyes half-lidded with pain, “I noticed…”
Her frustration boiled over, mixing with the ache in her chest. “Why? You should’ve triggered your healing already…you’re an Alpha. You should be healing!”
His chest rose sharply, sweat beading on his temple, veins standing out on his neck as he clenched his teeth against another wave of agony.
“I can’t…”
The words dropped heavy between them.
She froze, eyes wide. “What do you mean you can’t?”
His breathing came ragged, shoulders trembling, every muscle his body coiled tight. Slowly, he forced his head up. meeting her gaze with his brown eyes raw with both pain and something she dared not name.
“I need focus to trigger the healing. I can’t focus…” His voice broke on the last word, rough and desperate.
Her throat tightened, a worried expression clouding her face. “Why? What do you need to focus?”
He drew in a shuddering breath, his lips parting as if the truth itself cut him open His hand twitched like he wanted to reach for her but didn’t have the strength.
Finally, with all the weight of a confession and a wound deeper an flesh, he said it firm, ragged, and merciless.

Her heart hammered so hard she thought it might crack her ribs His words clung to the air between them, scorching. undeniable.
“You,” he said again, firmer this time, even as his body trembled with pain. “I need you to focus. You’re the only thing I can anchor to.”
Her breath caught, her chest rising in shallow, uneven pulls. His eyes…. dark, burning, fevered…held her captive. The bleeding wouldn’t stop, her hands slick with his blood, but still, she couldn’t move away.
“Amelia…” he whispered, her name falling from his lips like both a prayer and a curse. His wounds gaped wide, blood dripping steadily, and if he didn’t trigger his healing soon, he would bleed out and eventually die. She needed to think fast.
And then, before she could think, before she could remind herself of all the reasons this was wrong, she surged forward. Her mouth crashed against his, hot and hungry, a desperate claiming
Aiden froze for a heartbeat, then he seized the kiss, devouring her. His lips were raw, demanding, his tongue forcing its way past hers in a clash of need. The kiss was brutal in its hunger, wild in its urgency, and Amelia gasped against him, her body betraying her. Her hands tangled in his hair, pulling him closer, surrendering to the years of questions, yearning, and craving.
He groaned into her mouth, the sound vibrating through her, shaking her to her core. And in that moment, the air shifted…. sparks flickered, ancient and wild, igniting between them. His body arched against hers, muscles taut, claws scraping against the table as if he were holding back the shift.
Her wolf jolted inside her….a sharp, electric rush of desire flooding through their bond. It clawed at the surface, desperate to take over, howling for him, urging her to surrender and let him claim her. Every brush of his mouth against hers sent her wolf spiraling, clawing for his dominance, for him.
And then, she felt it. Under her palms, the bleeding slowed. The skin began to knit, the wound closing, his body responding…healing… fueled by the fire of the kiss, by the bond neither of them could deny.
He tore his mouth from hers for only a breath, pressing his forehead to hers, panting, his eyes wild. Her lips throbbed. swollen and tingling, her heart screaming yes while her mind spun in chaos.
“Fuck!!” he groaned as he pulled her back to him, hungrier this time, as if she were the only thing keeping him alive.
His hands steadying her as he guided her back until her spine hit the edge of the table. With one swift motion, he lifted her. setting her down gently, but his mouth never left hers. Amelia gasped, and he swallowed the sound, sliding deeper, consuming her.
His wolf clawed at the surface, frantic, primal. He wanted to claim her, to mark her, to make her his. His hand swept across the table, sending instruments and bottles crashing to the floor with a violent clang.
“Mine,” he growled against her lips, his voice thick with possession.
The word rattled through her, through them both…until the sound of a small, fragile voice shattered the storm.
“Mommy…”
Amelia froze.
