Arthur’s small voice pierced the air. Cassia jolted, shoving Aiden back and scrambling to her feet. Heat crawled up her neck. shame and embarrassment choking her as she fumbled to smooth down her dress.

“You have to hide,” she hissed under her breath.

“What?” Aiden muttered, breath still rough from their kiss.

“Arthur can’t see you. Please….just hide,” she urged, her eyes darting around the room.

He arched a brow, his gaze sweeping the dining room with a silent where exactly?

“The kitchen. Anywhere. Just…go,” she pressed.

Without another word, he nodded and slipped into the kitchen, his bare back disappearing into the shadows. Cassia sucked in a shaky breath, pressing a hand over her racing heart before turning toward the stairs.

Arthur stood there, rubbing his sleepy eyes as he padded down.

“Hey, honey,” she whispered, forcing a soft smile. “Why are you awake? Did you have another nightmare?”

“No… I heard noises,” he murmured, his voice thick with sleep. But then his gaze dropped and froze.

“Mom,” he said slowly, “did you cut yourself?”

Cassia followed his eyes. Blood. Her hands were still streaked with Aiden’s blood.

She swallowed hard. “Yeah, but it’s already healed. I’m fine now.” The lie slid off her tongue too quickly, and she hated herself for it. She couldn’t tell him the truth that it was Aiden’s blood, that Aiden was in the house.

Arthur’s eyes flicked from her hands to the dining table, to the mess scattered across the floor….the open first aid kit, gauze stained scarlet, a blood-soaked shirt. His gaze snapped back to her, suspicious and sharp in a way far beyond his years.

“I thought I heard you talking to someone…”

Cassia let out a nervous laugh that sounded nothing like her. “What? No. I was just talking to myself when I cut my hand.”

Arthur’s eyes shifted toward the kitchen door. He didn’t press, only gave a small nod.

“Come on, honey. Let’s wash up and go back to bed. Mommy will sleep beside you tonight.”

He nodded, and they walked upstairs together.

In the bathroom, Cassia scrubbed Aiden’s blood from her skin, watching the crimson swirl down the sink before drying her hands with a towel. She caught her reflection in the mirror, ander chest tightened. Her cheeks were flushed, her lips still tingling, her eyes… brighter. Alive.

She sighed. She claimed to hate him, and yet..one touch, one ki and she melted, betraying herself every time.

Back in Arthur’s room, she laid beside him, gently rubbing his back. She meant to comfort him to sleep, but exhaustion dragged her down first. Her breathing evened, her body curlingotectively around him, and soon she drifted off.

Arthur, however, lay wide awake.

He turned his head, studying his mother’s sleeping face. She looked peaceful…too peaceful. But there was something else. A

glow in her aura, subtle yet undeniable, as if something inside her had awakened.

He couldn’t name it, but he felt it.

The glow of her wolf.

Quietly, he slipped out of bed and padded down the stairs. He knew what he had heard earlier. His instincts screamed it was Alpha Aiden.

And he was right.

In the dining room, Aiden knelt shirtless, gathering scattered supplies, his skin still streaked with dried blood. The boy froze, his chest tightening as he looked at him…at the bigger version of himself.

Aiden stilled, sensing the gaze. He lifted his head, and his eyes widened in surprise.

“Arthur…” His voice was rough, unsteady. He thought the boy was asleep with Cassia.

“Alpha Aiden,” Arthur said evenly as he pulled out a chair and sadown, staring straight at him.

“Why are you still awake? Still having nightmares?” Aiden asked, closing the first aid kit.

Arthur shook his head. “No. I just couldn’t sleep. I didn’t know you were here. When did you arrive?”

Aiden’s lips curved faintly. “When I got here, you were already asleep. I didn’t want to wake you.”

Arthur’s gaze flicked to his chest, where blood had dried in uneven streaks. “What happened to you?”

“Nothing serious. Just a minor injury. I’m healed now.”

Arthur’s brows furrowed. “I knew it. The blood on Mom’s hands was yours. She lied when she said it was hers.”

Aiden’s lips twitched into a smile, dimples flashing. Arthur couldn’t stop his own lips from curving too. Copy and paste, the boy thought.

“Alpha Aiden,” Arthur began softly, eyes never leaving his face.

“Yes?” Aiden tilted his head, giving him his full attention.

“Have you ever thought about the possibility that I could be your son?”

The question landed like a blow. Aiden’s smile faltered, settling to something smaller, sadder. Of course he had thought it. He had even asked Amelia once. She’d told him no, and it had nearly broken him.

He drew in a slow breath, his chest tight. “Of course I have. And still wish it were true. But even if it’s not.. nothing changes. I see you as my son, Arthur. And I’ll always love you like one.”

Arthur’s lips curved into a secret smile. He wondered how Aider would react when he finally learned the truth.

“You should go back to sleep, buddy. You’ve got school tomorro

“Yeah” Arthur stood, but paused at the door, turning back with a houghtful look.

“Have you noticed something different about my mom today? Se has this glow. Like something changed.”

Aiden’s heart clenched. The boy noticed everything

“Yes,” Aiden admitted quietly. “I noticed too. She got her woll back.”

Arthur’s eyes widened, and then his whole face lit up. His smile was wide and pure, the kind that made Aiden’s chest ache.

He knew how much the wolf meant…how incomplete her mom had been without it. So her grandma told him. Now, his mom was whole again.

“Good night, Arthur.”

Arthur’s gaze lingered on him, soft and certain. “Good night…” Dad.
