The morning sun filtered through the trees as Damien stepped into Red Moon Pack territory, his chest swelling with anticipation. He pulled out his phone, thumb hovering over Amelia’s number. He had planned to call her, to ask for the new address, but the idea died in his mind almost instantly.

No. He wanted to see the look on her face when she opened the door. He wanted to surprise her.

So instead, he dialed James.

“James….” Damien’s voice was low, almost trembling with eagerness.

“Hey, Damien… I wasn’t expecting your call.”

“Well, me neither,” Damien said with a soft chuckle. “I just… I need the address to where Cassia is staying now.”

James frowned, even though Damien couldn’t see him. “Why? She’s your wife, you could have asked her directly.”

“She doesn’t know I’m back.” Damien’s lips curved into a smile he couldn’t hold back. “I want to surprise her.”

James caught the spark in his tone and sighed. “Oh… alright. I’ll send it to you.”

“Thanks, James,” Damien muttered before ending the call.

He clutched the phone against his chest, his grin widening, eyes glimmering with a brightness that couldn’t be masked. A vibration buzzed in his hand… James’ message. The address.

His wolf stirred restlessly, almost purring with excitement. They were going to see her. Their mate. And this time, Damien promised himself, there would be no more distance, no more waiting. He would claim her, bind her to him in every way.

His hand slipped into his pocket, brushing against the cool metal of a ring. He pulled it out slowly, his breath hitching at the sight of it. A family ring. The very one his father had used to propose to his mother before she died. He had taken it without his father knowing, but in his mind, it belonged to Cassia now. Soon it would sit on her finger. Soon it would be official.

He smiled again, his chest tightening with emotion. “You’ll be mine, Cassia.”

Damien leaned forward to the cab driver and showed him the address. The man nodded, started the engine, and they drove off toward destiny.

Meanwhile, at Cassia’s apartment, the golden morning rays streamed through the window of Arthur’s room. Cassia stirred. blinking against the brightness. She sat up, her hand brushing the cold sheets beside her. Arthur’s side of the bed was empty.

Her heart skipped. She shot to her feet, and rushed to the bathroom. It was empty.

Panic rising, she hurried downstairs, only to stop short at the sight that met her.

Arthur sat at the dining table, his cheeks puffed with food, grinning happily as Aiden who was wearing an apron, leaned over to serve him more.

Cassia’s lips parted in disbelief. Father and son… laughing, sharing a moment that looked heartbreakingly normal. Her chest tightened at the sight, her gaze softening against her will. It had lt like the old times with Aiden and Eva before he ruined everything.

Aiden froze. He had felt it.. the faint brush of her sweet scent ding into the room. Slowly, he raised his head, their eyes locking across the space. His chest constricted at the way she looked standing there, hair mussed from sleep, face glowing with the morning light.

“Mommy’s awake!” Arthur exclaimed happily, finally noticing he

Cassia broke her gaze from Aiden and moved quickly to her son planting a kiss on his head and ruffling his hair. “Good morning, my love.”

But her steps carried her straight toward Aiden next, her voice dropping firm and low. “We need to talk.”

He blinked at her, then nodded. “Yeah, sure-”

“Not in front of Arthur,” she cut in sharply.

His eyes flickered to Arthur, who was already digging into his place again. With a small nod, he followed Cassia into the kitchen.

The moment the door shut, her mask slipped.

“What are you still doing here?” Her voice carried the sharp edge of command.

“I… wanted to wait for you to wake up. And I thought I could help you with-”

“Stop.” The word cracked through the air like a whip. “Just stop, iden. Stop this charade. Please.”

He stared at her, brows furrowing in confusion. “What do you mean? I thought we were good last night?”

“Good?” Her voice broke on the word. “Nothing about us is good Aiden. You know what I mean. Stop this, go home!”

“But Amelia-” He reached toward her, desperate, but she flinched back, shaking her head furiously.

“Mommy, someone’s at the door!” Arthur’s voice carried from the dining room.

Cassia shot Aiden one last glare before storming out. Aiden stayed rooted in the kitchen, dragging both hands down his face. frustration pressing heavy on him. He let out a low groan before following her.

Cassia approached the door, heart racing for reasons she couldn name. But then….

A scent.

Sweet. Familiar. Overwhelming.

Her wolf stirred violently, whispering one word: Mate.

Cassia froze mid-step, eyes darting back toward the dining room where Aiden sat with Arthur. No. It couldn’t be him…she knew his scent too well. This was different. New.

Her hand trembled on the doorknob as the knock came again. She drew a shaky breath and pulled it open.

And there he was.

“Damien…” Her voice cracked with disbelief, her body locking in place.

The realization slammed into her chest. That scent…it was him.amien. Her mate

“Cassia…” His lips curved into a smile. “Surprise.”

She blinked rapidly, her mind scattering like shards of broken gss.

“W-what are you doing here?” she stammered.

“What do you mean? I came to see you, to surprise you. I missed you, Cassia But..” His smile faltered slightly. “You don’t look happy to see me.”

“No, no, that’s not true!” she rushed out, laughing nervously. “I just shocked. You really did surprise me. I missed you too.”

His shoulders relaxed at her words. He dropped his bag instantly and pulled her into his arms, crushing her against his chest.

She gasped, frozen in his embrace, before his warmth forced her to soften slightly.

When he pulled back, his eyes searched hers, their faces so close their breaths mingled. His gaze dropped to her lips, hunger flashing. He leaned forward…

…and Cassia instinctively leaned back.

“What’s wrong?” His voice was husky, confused.

She swallowed hard, forcing a laugh. Her thoughts flew to Aiden inside, her stomach twisting. If Damien saw him here, there would be blood.

“N-nothing. I just… haven’t brushed yet.”

He smiled softly. “I don’t care, Cassia.”

His hand lifted, brushing a stray strand of hair from her face. And then his lips crashed onto hers.

Inside, Aiden sat at the table, drumming his fingers restlessly. What was taking her so long at the door? Who was it? Whoever was at the door, Cassia was taking too long.

Their conversation wasn’t finished, not by a long shot. They kissed last night almost made out and they needed to talk about

His irritation pushed him to his feet, and he strode toward the door…

Only to stop dead.

The sight before him stole the air from his lungs.

Damien’s hands on Cassia. Damien’s lips pressed to hers.

Cassia… kissing him back.

Aiden’s world cracked down the middle.
