Damien paced up and down the hallway like a caged predator, his boots striking the wooden floor with a sharp, and angry rhythm.

His fists were clenched so tightly his knuckles blanched, claws half-extended and glinting under the dim corridor light. Arthur’s words kept replaying in his head, over and over, as if carved into his skull. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t force them out.

Aiden had slept in the same bed with Arthur. With Cassia. His woman. His mate.

The thought alone made his wolf snarl and claw at his insides. What else had happened between them in that bed? His breath came harsh and uneven as a low growl rumbled from deep in his chest. He slammed his head softly against the wall, eyes glowing a dangerous yellow as his claws slid further out.

“Damien…”

Cassia’s voice was soft, tentative, and almost trembling as she came toward him. She reached out, fingers brushing the air between them, but he shifted back before she could touch him. His glowing eyes blinked, dimming back to their usual color as he turned away from her.

“I know you’re mad at me. You have every right to be,” she said, her voice breaking but steady enough to hold his gaze. “But at least let me explain everything that happened…”

Damien exhaled sharply, jaw working as he forced his voice to stay calm. Even in his rage, he didn’t want to hurt her_not with his hands, not with his words. That was how much he loved Cassia. How much she outweighed his fury.

“Explain what, Cassia?” His voice was low but sharp, like a blade dragged across stone. “You let your ex-husband sleep in the same bed with you. Shirtless. He even walked into your kitchen and cooked for you. What else did you two do?” His chest rose and fell, eyes narrowing. “Did you kiss him? Did he kiss you”

He stared at her, waiting for her to deny it, to tell him it never happened. But she stayed silent.

That silence was an answer sharper than any word.

They kissed.

Heat and pain surged through Damien’s chest like wildfire, his breath faltering. Jealousy ran through him like a knife twisting in his ribs, threatening to split him apart. He had been gone from Red Moon Pack for less than a month, and Cassia was already kissing her ex-husband.

“Damien…” Cassia whispered, tears glistening in her eyes.

“No. Don’t call my name, Cassia.” His voice cracked as he ran a shaking hand through his hair, claws scraping his scalp. “What else did you both do? Did you-” He broke off, unable to even speak the word. If he said it aloud, he wasn’t sure he’d survive the answer.

“No. We didn’t…” she said quickly.

Relief flickered through him for a heartbeat, a small, fragile thin gazes locked. Her eyes shone with tears, and his anger melted, h furious he was, he still loved her. Hated to see her cry. Hated the

drowned beneath the weight of everything else. Their body weakening at the sight of her tears. No matter how even one drop of her tears existed because of him.

“Damien, please, let me explain everything…” She stepped close laying her palm gently on his shoulder. Heat rippled down Damien’s spine, her touch melting through his fury like sun through frost.

Damn it. This woman doesn’t even know what she does to me. She had no idea the hold she had on him. At times it felt as

He turned slowly back to her, eyes locking with hers. The air between them thickened, tension coiling tighter and tighter.

“Please, Damien,” she begged softly, “just listen to what I have to say…”

He exhaled, long and heavy, then gave a small nod. She turned, leading him into her room. She pulled the chair from the dressing table for him, then sat herself on the bed, hands trembling slightly as she clasped them in her lap.

Cassia swallowed hard, gathering the words. “It all started the night of the fire. Aiden saved Arthur and me. He asked us to stay in his house while he figured out who did it. And while we stayed there…” Her voice dropped. “I found out Sofia was the one behind my attack seven years ago.”

Damien’s head snapped up. “Sofia? Did Aiden tell you that?”

“No. I found out myself.” Cassia’s voice wavered. “She was also the one who poisoned Eva. She tried to poison Arthur too, but Ethan ate the food first.”

Damien’s claws flexed against his knees. “Were you out of your mind, Cassia? How could you go back to the same house where your daughter was poisoned? How could you take Arthur there?”

“I didn’t have a choice. Aiden was the only one here. It’s not like you were here with me…”

“My father was sick. He needed me.”

“I know. And I’m sorry…” She inhaled deeply and continued. “Sofia was arrested by the Blood Watch but escaped. Aiden was scared she and her accomplice would come after me and Arthur. That’s why he was in the house. I couldn’t exactly leave him out in his car….especially when it was raining.”

“And the kiss?” Damien’s voice dropped, hard and sharp.

Cassia froze, her mouth dry as memories of the kiss flared inside her like a live ember. She shoved them back. “It was just once. At my office. And I didn’t kiss him back…”

The lie burned as soon as it left her mouth, bitter and heavy on her tongue. She hated the way it tasted, like betrayal wrapped in silence but what choice did she have? Telling him the truth would set his fury ablaze, and she couldn’t risk losing

him.

If he knew there had been three kisses… it would be like ringing the bell for war.

Damien’s eyes searched her face, unreadable. Finally, his voice was quieter but sharper than before. “Do you still love him?”

Cassia’s heart stuttered. She let out a nervous laugh, her pulse hammering in her throat. “What do you mean?”

“Do you still love him?”

“Why would you think I love him? He hurt me, Damien. He rejected me, remember? I feel nothing for him. As a matter of fact, I hate him…” Her voice broke. She stood, moving to him, holding his hand, pulling him up from the chair.

“You’ve been letting him bond with Arthur. What if he finds out he truth about him?”

“He will never find out about Arthur. And I can’t exactly tell Art to stay away from him or to hate him. He’s still a child..” Her eyes lifted to his.

Damien swallowed, gaze locked on hers. “Do you love me at all mean do you feel anything for me?”

Cassia stiffened. For a heartbeat she couldn’t breathe. Then sheid softly, firmly, “Of course I love you, Damien. You are the one I love. It’s you whom I want. You’ve been with me for so long waiting for me to get back my wolf and realize we are mates. And now I know it. It’s you I want to spend the rest of my

life with. You’re everything I want and more…”
