Meanwhile, in Luna Donna’s ward. Alpha Alaric paced back and forth like a caged beast, his mind restless and heavy. He couldn’t get the voices out of his head, the words he had overheard between Amelia and Damien. Amelia had found the cure…yet she had refused to tell the council.
“Alaric, you’re going to make me go blind if you keep moving like this,” Donna muttered weakly from the bed, her voice breaking through his storm of thoughts. “My eyes are already failing me… just tell me what is eating at you.”
He stopped mid-step, turning to face her. His jaw was set like stone.
“Did you know Amelia found the cure?”
Donna’s eyes widened. “What?”
“Yes,” Alaric said, dragging a hand through his hair. “I believe she discovered it long ago, but she never told the council. never told anyone. I overheard her with Damien Blackwood today.”
Donna pushed herself up against the pillows. “Why would she hide it if she truly has the cure?”
“Because she’s planning something…” His tone was sharp, bitter. He resumed pacing, but his steps grew heavier, more deliberate, until he stopped again and looked at her.
“Unless…” he hissed, his eyes narrowing, “…she intends to find her family first and give her mother the cure. That’s the only reason I can think of for her silence.”
“She doesn’t even know if her mother is alive,” Donna whispered “And yet she still clings to hope.”
“Well, her mother won’t live much longer.” His lips curled in something that wasn’t quite a smile. “I know exactly what to do to make Amelia bring out that cure.”
Donna’s stomach twisted. Her voice was barely a whisper. “Don’t tell me you’re going to kill Evelyn.”
“Why?” His eyes snapped to her, sharp as knives. “Do you still have a soft spot for her because she’s your-” He cut himself short, the weight of the unfinished sentence hanging in the room. Donna swallowed hard, her gaze locked with his, but she said nothing.
Alaric smirked darkly. “I won’t kill her myself. But she will die in Amelia’s hands.” He turned and strode out of the ward. leaving the silence broken only by Donna’s quiet, trembling sobs Tears slid from the corners of her eyes as she shut them tightly, taking in a painful breath.
Meanwhile, Damien had returned to Cassia’s office. He paced like a predator, his fists clenching and unclenching, claws threatening to rip through his skin. His mind replayed the nurse words on a loop, each repetition a dagger.
“Did you see the way he looks at her? You weren’t there the day the Alpha got shot! Doctor Cassia did everything to save him. and she cried… and then she kissed him. And guess what? He woke up. I think her kiss revived him.”
Damien’s claws tore into his palms until his own blood slicked his fists. His wounds healed instantly, but the burn inside his chest did not. His teeth ground together as rage consumed him he kissed Aiden… and then lied to me. She said it happened in her office, not in that operating theatre. What elses she hidden from me? What else happened between them?
A low growl rumbled from his chest. He drove his fist into the wall, splintering it. The pain didn’t matter it was gone as fast as it came. What hurt was the thought of Cassia still loving the nan who had once destroyed her.
Does she still feel something for him?
He shook his head violently. Impossible. After everything Aiden lid…rejecting her, accusing her, humiliating her before his pack, declaring her dead in their eyes… she couldn’t possibly love him still.

But another thought clawed its way into Damien’s skull, one he tried desperately to shove down. But first love never dies.
He dragged both hands through his hair, tugging until his scalp ached. He couldn’t let himself think about it, not one second longer, or the fury might consume him entirely.
The door creaked open. Damien’s head snapped up, hope flashing in his eyes only to be met with disappointment. It wasn’t Cassia. It was Aiden.
Aiden froze in the doorway, his gaze flicking around the office as if searching for Amelia. His brows knit when he realized she wasn’t there.
“You should learn to knock before barging in,” Damien growled, his voice low, primal. Claws slid from his fingers, his wolf restless beneath his skin. “This is my wife’s office.”
Aiden exhaled slowly, his expression calm. “I’ll come back when Amelia returns.” He turned as if to leave.
“No.” Damien’s voice stopped him. His eyes glinted, sharp and dangerous. “Maybe we should talk, Aiden. It’s long overdue. It’s time we settle our scores.”
Aiden regarded him for a long moment, then glanced at the claws protruding from Damien’s hands. “Not with fangs and claws involved.”
Damien’s lips curled into a cold smile. Slowly, he retracted the claws back into his skin. “Fine.”
Aiden folded his arms. “What do you want to talk about?”
“Cassia.”
“You mean Amelia?”
“No.” Damien’s tone hardened. “Amelia died seven years ago, the night you rejected her and cast her out. The woman you see today…she was reborn from those ashes. Her name is Cassia Wrenmoor. You should stop calling her Amelia.”
“She never told me she hated the name,” Aiden said softly. “In fact, she smiles when I call her Amelia. She’ll always be Amelia to me. My Amelia.”
A snarl rumbled inside Damien, his wolf clawing to be unleashed He clenched his jaw so hard it ached, forcing himself to stay calm.
“She is married to me,” Damien said, his voice trembling with suppressed rage. “Mated to me. I am saying this peacefully. but if you push me…it will get bloody. Stay. Away. From. My. Wife.”
Aiden’s lips curled into a faint, mocking smile. “Your wife?” He scoffed.
“Yes. Mine alone. Can’t you see it? She hates you. Why don’t you accept it and leave her the hell alone?” Damien growled, his wolf roaring inside his chest, begging to tear into the man before him.
But Aiden only leaned forward, his voice soft but sharp enough to cut.
“Didn’t look like it to me… when she kissed me.”
