“Yes, she’s my wife and mine alone. Can’t you see it? She hates you. Why don’t you just leave her the hell alone?” Damien growled, his wolf clawing at his insides, begging to lunge at Aider. He forced it back down, trembling with the effort to keep control.

“Didn’t look like it to me… when she kissed me,” Aiden said coldly

Damien froze, his jaw tightening as his memory flashed back to the gossip he had overheard from the nurses earlier.

“You mean the one time in this office….and the other in the surgery room?” Damien asked, his voice sharp as a blade. “She told me everything, Aiden. Every detail.”

Aiden’s lips parted in shock but he was quick to replace it with a cold looks.. She told him? Did that mean Amelia had confessed all of it to Damien….the kiss, the fire, the emotions? Did that mean she didn’t love him at all, and that she loved Damien instead?

“You’re surprised?” Damien sneered. “I told you already…she’s my wife. She told me both kisses were a mistake, that you kissed her first. That’s why I’m warning you now, Aiden. I understand you’re lonely especially since your wife is dead, your son isn’t your son. But don’t you dare use my wife to patch the hole in your chest. Stay. Away. From. Her.” His words hit with the finality of steel.

Aiden’s nostrils flared. “Are you threatening me in my own pack

“It’s not a threat,” Damien said, his voice dark and steady. “It’s a warning.”

Aiden frowned deeply. He knew exactly what Damien was trying to do… he wanted to push him into anger, bait him into losing control. But two could play at that game.

“Well then,” Aiden said, his tone calm but edged with venom, “it seems Amelia forgot to tell you a few parts of the story. Since you insist on knowing everything, I’ll enlighten you.” He stepped closer, his eyes burning. “Firstly, yes… I kissed her in this office. But she kissed me back. And do you know what happened? She regained her wolf after that kiss.”

Damien’s eyes widened.

“Secondly,” Aiden continued, his voice low and cutting, “she kissed me in the surgery room. And thirdly, she kissed me again in her house, just last night, to help me heal. You don’t want me b describe how that kiss felt, because words could never be enough-”

Aiden’s words cut short as Damien’s fist slammed into his jaw. Allen staggered back, blood dripping from his split lip. He touched it, looked at the crimson on his fingertips, and laughed itterly.

“She didn’t look like she hated me, Damien. She loves me, and now it. I can prove it.”

“Shut the fuck up!” Damien roared. His eyes glowed, his wolf surging dangerously close to the surface. “If she wanted you, she would have told you the truth herself. You want to know the real truth? I was never married to Cassia. But when t returned, I proposed…and she said yes. We are getting married. She chose me. She’s mine alone.”

Aiden’s lips pressed into a tight line, fury flooding his chest. The evelation cut him deep…he had believed Cassia and Damien were already married, and that was why he had held back. She had lied, made him think it was hopeless

“Doesn’t matter,” Aiden said finally, his voice laced with anger a now I know she’s not married to you yet. That means I still have Remember, I’m her first love, Damien. Don’t forget that.”

determination. “Thanks for telling me, Damien. At least me to convince her. She’ll say yes to me instead of you.

A guttural growl tore from Damien’s throat, and this time he lunged, tackling Aiden and landing another brutal punch across his face. Blood splattered. Aiden didn’t fight back. He let his mind, he deserved the pain for the way he had once broken

“Fight me, you asshole!” Damien snarled, slamming another puch into his face. Blood ran down Aiden’s mouth, but he laughed through it, his eyes still burning with defiance.

The office door suddenly burst open. Cassia stood frozen in the doorway, her eyes widening in horror at the sight before her, Damien straddling Aiden, his fists raining down.

“Damien!” she cried out.

His arm froze mid-air. He turned, and the sight of Cassia’s horrified expression cut through his fury.

“What do you think you’re doing?!” she demanded, her voice shaking with both anger and fear.

“He had it coming,” Damien spat.

“He had it coming?” Cassia’s voice rose sharply. “Do you want to kill him? In my office?” Her chest heaved as she closed her eyes, fighting to keep control of her emotions.

“Cassia, he-”

“Just leave! Leave now!” she yelled, her voice cracking with fury.

Damien’s jaw clenched, but he obeyed, storming out of the office and slamming the door behind him with a deafening bang.

Cassia rushed forward to Aiden, who was bleeding on the floor. What is wrong with you two?” she demanded, helping him up. “What were you even doing in my office? Did you want him kill you?” She guided him to a chair and quickly grabbed the first aid box from the cupboard.

She soaked a cotton ball with spirit, ready to clean the wound…but Aiden’s hand shot out, gripping hers.

The moment their skin touched, a spark jolted down both their spines. Their eyes locked, and Aiden’s gaze dropped to her hand…to the ring glinting on her finger. Jealousy burned hot in his chest.

“I see you got a new ring,” he muttered, his voice low and bitter. His eyes flicked back up to hers, wounded.

Cassia pulled her hand back quickly, breaking the connection. She looked away.

“You lied to me, Amelia,” Aiden said, his voice raw. “You made me believe you were already married to Damien. When the truth is..you weren’t. You’ve been lying to me all along.”

Her brows furrowed. “What are you talking about?”

“Don’t you dare pretend. Damien told me everything himself.”

Cassia swallowed hard, forcing her voice steady. “Does it matter now? He’s already proposed. And I accepted.”

“Why would you accept his proposal?” Aiden demanded, his voice breaking. “You shouldn’t have. We both know it’s me you love. Don’t marry him, Amelia. Marry me.” His voice cracked at he end, his eyes glassy with unshed tears.

Cassia’s heart thundered. For a split second, his words softeneder, pulling at the edges of her resolve. Electricity raced down her spine, but she forced herself to harden her features.

“You don’t get to tell me who I marry,” she said firmly, her voice rembling beneath her steadiness. “My love life is none of your business.”

“It is my fucking business!” Aiden shouted, his voice hoarse with desperation. “After everything we’ve shared…after those kisses! If you knew you were going to marry Damien, why did you kiss me? Why did you give me hope that I still had a place in your heart?”

“I never gave you hope, Aiden,” she whispered.

“Yes, you did!” His voice cracked, breaking. “Not in words…but in the way you kissed me. It gave me hope. Hope that…” His voice faltered, his throat closing. He dragged a hand through his hair, tears pooling in his eyes.

Cassia inhaled sharply, then spoke, her voice final. “Damien is my second-chance mate, given to me by the Moon Goddess. I choose Damien. I’m going to marry him….and that’s final.”

Aiden stared at her, his chest rising and falling heavily. Slowly, he forced a tight, pained smile onto his lips.

“You know what? Fine. Good luck with your little love life…your marriage with Damien.” His voice cracked, agony leaking through every word. “He’s the man who deserves you. I don’t.”

And with that, he turned and walked out, his shoulders heavy with grief.
